In this discussion area, please feel free to share your experience in implementing A.B.A. programs in the school system. We would particularly like to hear from those parents who converted their school teams to A.B.A. We’d like to hear the nightmares as well as the success stories.

Any insight that can be shared by school-based special education assistants to help parents would also be very meaningful.

    Fellow Parents,

If you have a child studying in Stride Community School and Taylor Park Elem. School in Burnaby or have experiences dealing with the current principals in these schools please kindly give me feedback. I will be pulling out my child from the school where he was registered coming September and planning to register him to these schools.
Though I really pity my child because this will be his 2nd move to another school but I am really exhausted dealing with his school principal.

I am looking for a Welcoming ABA school and not a very closed minded, wants to control principal.

Your answer would be appreciated. Please e-mail me:smartaba@telus.net

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you to all the parents that applied to my previous ad on FEAT.

I am currently looking for a position as an ABA support worker with the Surrey school district. I have been in another school district for almost 5 years and I would like to be able to implement ABA programs in a supportive, team environment. I have previously worked in both elementary and high school environments. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Thanks
    KATRINA

ABA Support Worker required in South Surrey

Grade 5 boy in South Surrey requires a support worker for the coming
school year. This student requires 28.5 hours of school support
weekly, with consultation provided by Sharon Baxter and Sarah
    Pastrana.

Ideal candidate has completed the ABA SW course through Surrey
College, however, those with many hours of home-team experience are
    encouraged to apply.

This student enjoys physical activity, and is quite easy-going and
flexible. He enjoys going to school, and is a motivated learner.

    Hello,

I need advice from families who homeschooled their kids, or have information about homeschooling.

My son has been homeschooled since kindergarten and he will be in grade 2 in next school year. Every year the homeschool agency takes some amount of money from kids’ funding which is norm, but are they supposed to take more money from funding each year? The amount they took from my son’s funding was $2,000 in kindergarten, $4,000 in grade 1, and for next year it would be $5,800. I was expecting they take the same as grade 1 because I haven’t seen any changes in their services.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

Hello, I have a 6 years old ASD son in Grade 1 and I'm looking for the information and comment regarding to holding child back in same grade for two years VS having extra transition year after Grade 12 in secondary school.
If you had child's transiton to college/ adulthood without holding back, how this extra year worked ?
If you had child held back in same grade for two years, how this helped your child ?

If you have any information on those, please email me at rykkgs@gmail.com

    Thank you. Ryoko
