In this discussion area, please feel free to share your experience in implementing A.B.A. programs in the school system. We would particularly like to hear from those parents who converted their school teams to A.B.A. We’d like to hear the nightmares as well as the success stories.
Any insight that can be shared by school-based special education assistants to help parents would also be very meaningful.

March 17, 2013 at 5:30 pm #3689Dione CostanzoParticipantWe are looking for an ABA SW for our 10 year old son who is going into Grade 5 in September. He is high functioning, verbal, friendly and very imaginative. His ABA protocol focus' mainly on social and life skills and also incorporates regular physical activities such as running, yoga and taikwondo.
He has been in an ABA program for the past 6 years under our consultants Leah Mumford and Dr. Sara White and continues to make impressive progress. Our current ABA SW is leaving in June, so we are hiring someone who is able to begin training soon to start in school in September.
We are looking for someone with a fun and positive attitude, an excellent communicator, and who has a desire to make a difference in the life of a child. We would like the ABA SW to be involved in our home ABA program and attend regular team meetings. We would also like them to participate in extracurricular activities at school such as cross country and track and field.
Please email me at: dionec@shaw.ca

February 20, 2013 at 4:17 am #3692cathy wangMemberMy son (almost 5) just started ABA at the end of Dec last year, everything was going well with him, just last week with some new activities coming in, he seems not like them, (or bored with the ABA sessions?).. He just played in his own way, not responding to the activities of the curriculum, he would not do what the BIs asked him to do (for example, 'put the princess ON the table/ IN the car'…) I know he knows about IN/OUT/ON/UNDER, but don't know how to get him follow the instructions…He is smart and got easily bored with things. Don't know what to do next…The BC only do face-to-face consultation, cannot ask her any Qs via emails, so feel frustrated and have to wait till next monthly meeting in Mar to ask her.
Any ideas from parents who ever had same experiences? any suggestions? really appreciated it!
Thanks,

February 19, 2013 at 5:15 am #3694SebastianMemberFull-time ABA SW Needed in South Surrey School
This is a post on behalf of the family.
We are looking for an ABA SW for our very high functioning daughter in Grade 4. She is a happy, smart, cheerful, and fun-loving girl.
She has been in an ABA program for the past 7 years under our fantastic consultant Dr. Sara White. Our current ABA SW is leaving in June, so we are hiring someone who is able to begin training soon to start in June or September.
We are looking for someone with a fun and positive attitude, an excellent communicator, and who has a desire to make a difference in the life of a child. We would like the ABA SW to be involved in our home ABA program and attend monthly team meetings.
We will consider any qualified candidate but preference will be given to persons with prior training on one of Dr. White's teams.
