In this discussion area, please feel free to share your experience in implementing A.B.A. programs in the school system. We would particularly like to hear from those parents who converted their school teams to A.B.A. We’d like to hear the nightmares as well as the success stories.

Any insight that can be shared by school-based special education assistants to help parents would also be very meaningful.

    Hi everyone

Due to holidays we are leaving our survey up for a few more days please take a few moments if you haven't already to complete it and help us plan:

The ABA Support Network is planning a one day workshop to take place this fall in the lower mainland. This workshop will be open to all parents and professionals and the goal will be to educate attendees on the current state of ABA in BC schools and how to move forward with implementing ABA programs, district by district.

This is NOT a registration page – we need to know how many people would attend this workshop so that we can confirm a location.

Please fill out the following questionnaire which will assist us in planning this event.

I recently posted looking for feedback on two elementary schools in New Westminster: Lord Tweedsmuir and Connaught Heights. Please, please, if there is anyone out there with comments to share, or if you know of any parents with children at these schools, please let me know at karlapark12@hotmail.com. I would be most grateful!

    "Hello,

If anyone has comments/feedback re: Lord Tweedsmuir or Connaught Heights Elementary Schools in New Westminster, please email me at karlapark12@hotmail.com. I'd like to hear about other parents' experiences with these schools, particularly with respect to ABA and also with respect to hiring support workers from a home team.

Our famiy will be new to the New Westminster school system overall, so I would appreciate any feedback on the district as well.

    Many thanks."

Hello, I'm wondering if any parents could offer some advice on school districts. We are looking to make a move in the next few months (currently in Vancouver) and are wondering if parents had insights into the quality and extent of services for a child with ASD in 1) North Vancouver and 2) West Vancouver? Our son is not school-aged yet but we want to settle into North or West Van for a long time. Any positive/negative feedback most welcomed and appreciated!! email is sabrownresearch@gmail.com

Well done Jodie and everyone! Schools need to be doing the right thing for our kids – the Okanagan is horrific for kids with autism (those with actual behaviors anyways). I look forward to their answer in September. Good luck and

    Thank you.

    TONIGHT, June 25 at 7pm
at 550 Poirier Street in Coquitlam

Led by Jodie Wickens, the Tri-Cities chapter of the ABA Support Network has organized a delegation to present to the school board at this meeting a proposal that ABA trained aides are provided at school for children with autism whose parents are running a home based ABA program overseen by a qualified consultant.

This presentation will be brief, and we are asking AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO ATTEND to show their support for Jodie. The more people that show up , the bigger an impact we will have.

Please pay it forward – your district could be next!

Tri-City parents are presenting to their school board tomorrow to ask that ABA trained SEA's be required for our children. PLEASE help support us by signing our petition! The more names the better!
