    Dear Parents

Our son will be attending Kindergarten this September at Leigh Elementary in Coquitlam.

If anyone has any experience with this school regarding how their SEAs are, how flexible they are in accommodating needs of our kids, how open they are to include behaviour consultant's input or anything else that's important for us to know, we would be glad to hear.

Any advice you could give us on how best to deal with the Coquitlam School Board is greatly appreciated.

    Please email me at catgirl@shaw.ca

Thanks to all those who responded to my call for advice on what to do about when an outside organization is hiring multiple therapists from our team. I truly appreciated the thoughts and recommendations.
I wanted to asked if anyone has had any issues with an outside organization divulging information you gave while completing a reference for a therapist with said therapist once they hired them. I thought the conversation was suppose to be entirely confidential. Do we have any recourse? It's concerning to me that an organization who deals with families and their children has so little respect for confidentiality. Not only are they taking away our therapist's time but they are potentially souring them on us by sharing the reference information we gave for them.
Just a warning to parents that we are aware of an organization who is having people doing training for their behaviour interventionists who have no formal credentials or experience with that organization.
There are some very unethical organizations operating out there. I wish there was a way families could share names without incurring a legal wrath from the organization. Students can do it on line about their college professors and patients do it on line about their doctors… maybe we should have separate site dedicated to these types of reviews.

Can anyone recommend a method or equipment for viewing/recording ABA sessions via camera? Any input much appreciated.

Is anyone having issues with outside "behaviour interventionists" employing their family therapists? One just called to get yet another reference for a therapist on our toddler's team. She has effectively worked her way thru all our family therapists except one now. We find, train and give them a year's experience and then they raid your family. It stinks. If anyone wants to share any thoughts or solutions… or just vent ;-)… please email me.

Ethically shouldn't they limit themselves to taking just one per family. She laughed when I explained my concern. It's so frustrating.

    Hi Stacey:

Just to add to the previous posts about triggers… Our 3 year old son will periodically have similiar reactions to the fan above the stove and the microwave. Most times it's fine but every once and while he cannot tolerate their sounds and has a meltdown. Possibly not what triggered your son's reaction but thought I would mention it just in case. I hope it all works out for you.
