Hi all,

Special Olympics BC Richmond will be registering athletes, coaches, and volunteers for 2010/2011 Programs.

Date: Sunday, August 8, 2010
Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Minoru Sports Pavilion, 7191 Granville Avenue Richmond, BC

The registration cost for athletes is $25 and free for coaches and volunteers.

The final schedule is not out yet, but it should look like 2009/2010 one http://www.sobcrichmond.org/programs-1.

I will suggest you to ask your consultant.

Personally, I wish we did more therapy hours when my boy was young. It was not an option for us. My wife had to work for her parents (they don’t want to spend money to hire people) about 6 hours per day, 6 days per week, so my boy spent a lot of time in the day care wondering around.

Just my 2 cents.

Richmond cut 15 educational assistants, 18 learning resource teachers, 11 custodians and eight teacher librarians.

I always feel pretty sad for the families in Richmond. I don’t think Richmond likes ABA very much (just personal opinion, of course, I might be wrong).

Two families I knew moved out Richmond when their kids were diagnosed about 4-5 years ago and I think those were very smart decisions.

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – Another school district and another huge budget shortfall. As expected, the Richmond School Board has cut 94 positions because of a lack of provincial funding.
The positions being dropped include 15 educational assistants, 18 learning resource teachers, 11 custodians and eight teacher librarians.
Two-thirds of the laid off staff may be re-hired. They are also considering a two week spring break instead of one.

Dear all,

We are looking for a tutor/BI to join our team in Richmond.

Our boy is 8 years old and in grade 2.
This person will mainly work in areas of academics, communication and social skills.

Current shifts (to summer): Tue, Thur 3:30 to 5:30 pm (1.5 hours to 2 hours)
Summer schedule: Tues and Thur morning and afternoons (2.5 hours per session).
Sept. 2010: TBA

The person will work closely with the school team and our home team leader (I believe she will be one of the best BCBA consultants in the future).
