***Looking for tutor to work with my son***
One member of our team is unexpectedly leaving and we are in need of a replacement. My son is 4 yrs old, verbal, and lots of fun to play with. He is making lots of progress and continues to thrive. We are working mainly on social skills and play skills, getting him ready for kindergarten. Our consultant is Bernadette Marzo, working under the guidance of Glen Davies of the ABLE Developmental Clinic.
Experience is great, but training will be provided. You must be 19 yrs or older and have a current clear criminal record check.
Please email me if interested,

StephanieStephanie SpenceMemberHi there,
I hope someone out there can help. I'm thinking of kindergarten for next September for my ASD son. Has anyone had any experience (good or bad)with Montessori schools vs. regular public school ?
In particular, is Montessori too unstructured for ASD kids or does it allow them to prosper as they can go at their own pace. Also in question is that there is no "playing" with their peers, as it is seen as work time not play time. There is concern that social skills will not be worked on if they are encouraged to work alone. My son is high on the academic scale but low on social skills, that's why I have some concerns.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Some parents seem to know right away what their plan is (type of school) but this is a hard one for me as things change with time as all of us parents of ASD kids know.
Maple Ridge school district in particular is what I am looking at.thanks in advance,
please email me at gsspence@shaw.caStephanie

Stephanie SpenceMemberHello,
Has anyone here had any experience with digestive problems in their child with autism ? My son, who is 4, has had reflux type symptoms for over a year now and we are looking at getting him tested for acid reflux and for delayed gastric emptying. He spits up bits of food hours later than consumed and we are worried that the acid coming up will hurt his throat/stomach lining.
The testing involves fasting as well, which we are not looking forward to because he is very rigid when it comes to food and eating at the appropriate times, food is a motivator for him.
If anyone has any advice regarding the tests or symptoms, please email methanks,
Stephanie
