Jaswant SinghParticipant
Dear All,
My twin teenaged sons have had Lovaas ABA programs supporting them since they were first diagnosed with ASD at age 3. We are deeply appreciative for the great consultants and team members we’ve had over time and the wonderful progress that’s been made. As their Autism journeys continue, my sons are in need of a new, experienced behavioural consultant to guide them.
They have recently turned 17 and have 2 more years in the school system. One is home schooled and the other attends a Life Skills program at a Vancouver secondary school. We are actively seeking someone who can help to further develop and manage our home ABA programs that incorporate functional academics, communication, life skills development, community engagement and self-regulation elements.
We have two great teams of caring and dedicated BIs. They are in need of good teaching material, direction and support to continue their awesome work with my sons. If you are a behavioural consultant who has capacity to work with one or both of my sons and/or knows of someone who can, it would be most appreciated if you can contact me at: tx4cd@yahoo.com
With Sincerest Gratitude,
Jaswant 🙂Jaswant SinghParticipantWe are looking for a part time ABA therapist, BI or Special Education Assistant for a 16 year old boy with Autism. Jaswant SinghParticipantHello fellow parents,
I am seeking feedback on the support program at Point Grey Secondary school in Vancouver. The School District has recommended my son attend the Life Skills program at Point Grey for grade 8 next year. I would sincerely appreciate any comments you may have (good or bad) about the program and staff. Please respond to the email address noted below. Thanks so much.
Regards,
Jaswant

(with out the extra spaces of course) :-)Jaswant SinghParticipantHello,
I am in need of some help and guidance. My son is in grade 6 this year and will be in grade 7 next fall. He is attending a public elementary school in Vancouver and has an ABA support worker. He is making good progress but is clearly still behind his peers developmentally speaking. I strongly feel that he would benefit greatly by repeating a year of elementary school.
Would someone be kind enough to share with me what our options are in this respect? Initial feedback from the school is that children move through the grades in an age appropriate manner. In other words, physical age trumps child developmental and educational needs. I am confused by this.
It would be sincerely appreciated if someone can help me out with some feedback on possible options I can take and what my sons rights are. Thank you so very much! My email address is: cdranu@yahoo.com
Sincerely,
JaswantJaswant SinghParticipantHello,

I think we have to share our successes and failures publicly otherwise we're all left wandering through this maze in darkness alone. I think some people don't want to share as they fear that whatever gains that they have achieved will be jeopardized if a rush of other families start clamoring for the same support.
I think this is the wrong way to think as the more people there are making these demands to the right people, the more seriously school districts will consider this issue and our children's needs.
If I knew what I knew now, I would have approached the VSB in person 3 years ago before my boys entered the public school system … and certainly to a person of higher authority than the school principal who knew nothing except to say "collective bargaining constraints, collective bargaining constraints, collective bargaining constraints, …". Better late than never as they say …
Jaswant
PS. Perhaps we can setup a subsection on this website where we can offer school district specific guidance to families ??
