Renee PupetzMemberMy son will be entering kindergarden in the fall 2013 in coquitlam/port Moody.I am being told by child supported development ,that he will be lucky to get any support. That the SEA's role is to support the classroom and the district does not believe in any 'one on one' support. This seems crazy to me.I work as a support person in Vancouver and work one on one all the time.I would love to hear from any parents with kids in this district and their experiences good or bad with the system out here. How did it work out with your child?I am terrified and very confused.I hear North Vancouver is great and allows an ABA aid and SEA's are required to take a 6 month course on Autism etc…IT would be a huge move for us to make.I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks
Renee

Renee PupetzMemberLooking for a BI to join us in Coquitlam (near coquitlam center).
I have two children 3 and 4 years of age. Both are high functioning (verbal, social and love to be busy!) We will need someone to work 2-3 times a week after daycare for a few hours with both children together and maybe one time on weekend.Alot of what we do is sensory based and we work on things such as turn taking, language building, life skill building. Our children are both very creative, sweet and fun! If you would like more info and are interested , please email me at reneepupetz@hotmail.com
Must be over 19 years of age and have a criminal record check.Experience with young children preferred.Renee PupetzMembermy two children with ASD are starting full time daycare on Tuesday.I have been preparing best I can but have been wondering about other people experience.I notice the 'staff' asking questions that lead me to believe they done really understand autism or ABA especially.I have shopped around and this was the best i could find but it still seems to lack alot of experience. Is this pretty typical with daycare settings? i would love to hear from others about their experiences with daycare and how their children were transitioned in the beginning stages and how it worked out.positive experiences welcome ! please email me at reneepupetz@hotmail.com
Renee PupetzMemberI live in the Coquitlam area and am getting ready to put my son into kindergarden next September.I was told that He will be lucky to get support and the most he will get is shared support.(He is diagnosed with autism).I hear that Vancouver and other districts have better resources for support eg.ABA support workers etc..I am really concerned that my son will have no support in the classroom! I am thinking of moving to another district to help ensure the best for him.I work in the largest elementary school in Vancouver and know that every child with autism there that needs it has full time support.I know there are exceptions and there are other issues to contend with as well.Any experiences or info on other districts/school would be greatly appreciated PLease email me reneepupetz@hotmail.com
Thanks!
