CarolCarol RameyMemberI am posting this message for a friend. She
lives in Westbank and has a 5 year old with
autism. She is interested in starting an ABA
program. Is there anyone in that area who
can talk to her and maybe let her observe a
program? Her name is Caroline and her email is

cramey@shaw.caCarol RameyMemberDoes anyone have EA job
postings/descriptions from BC school districts
with ABA job requirements?Since my last post, our school district has
agreed to post my son's EA position as an
ABA position. We want to be very clear and
what does (and does not) constitute an ABA
qualified EA. We have recieved great
information from our consultant and other
sources, but would be helped by precidents
from other school districts. If your school district hired an ABA EA or
required ABA experience for your child's EA,
could you please send me the qualifications
they required? A copy of the job posting would
be best. CUPE and non-CUPE postings are
fine.Many Thanks

(cramey@shaw.ca)P.S. I also want to say thank you to everyone
who replied to my previous posting about
school. I'm sorry if I didn't reply – I'm sure you
understand how busy life can be. C.Carol RameyMemberOur son is starting grade one in September,
and is entitled to 12.5 hours of aide time.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to go
about getting this increased? Has anyone
successfully got a full time aide for their
autistic child? When our son started kindergarten we
successfully lobbied our school district to hire
an ABA aide to work with him. They have
generally been very supportive.Any thoughts or suggestions would be
appreciated.Carol Ramey
cramey@shaw.caCarol RameyMemberHelp Please!
We have a meeting on Tuesday afternoon with
our school district's (# 68) Director of
Education. We will be making a case to have
one of the ABA qualified aides in our district
being assigned to our son. Right now he has
been assigned to someone with no ABA
background, but more union seniority than the
ABA qualified aides. We did manage to get
ABA put into the job posting, but the personnel
manager did not consider it a job
"requirement". We need to convince the
Director that we need to assign a qualified
aide over one with union seniority.I need anything I can use to strengthen my
case in this meeting. I would love to hear of
any precidents, case law, arguments, policies,
loopholes, bribes, cudgels :-), etc. that others
have used in this situation.Carol Ramey (Benton's Mom)
