    Hello All, I am a little confused and this is the only place I know I can get the answer to my questions and concerns. The Ministry is looking into putting Ty into pre school…. but when I ask if I can have one of my therapists go to school and work with him they say no. Okay then how does he go to school and work on the same things he will be working on at home? I do not want him getting confused on things and I do not want all the training he gets at home to be lost from going to pre school and dealing with someone who knows nothing of ABA Lovaas. Please if anyone can let me know how this all works, so I do not make a mistake. Thank you very much, Melodie (Ty's mom) m_pilloud@yahoo.ca

    Hi there, I was wondering if someone could please tell me if there are any consultants that are working out in the Valley ( Chilliwack area ). We are wanting to start our 2 1/2 year old sons ABA ~ Lovaas therapy as soon as possible but so far have not had any luck finding a consultant that has other families in this area. Please if you could give me some names / numbers / e-mail addresses….. anything that would help! Thank you so very much for your help. (as always) :o)

    P.S. could someone tell me what I should be asking to find out if the people I am talking to really are doing the Lovaas ABA or not. Thanks!

    Hello Everyone, I was hoping that I could get a little help from the group. I have talked with a few people and have been given some names of different consultants to call to start things for our son. I have called and talked to Andrea Sharp and also Racheal Russelle. Racheal is full and not taking on any other families right now. I was told that some families have been using Lisa Wincz and I was hoping to get some feed back on her. I have been given Andrea's name by almost everyone so far so I am guessing she is very good. I am hoping to start our program between Dec/02 and Jan/03. I am not sure how we are to write this up for the ministry, so I could also use some help with that too. Also when I was talking with Racheal this morning she had told me that there was a family looking to share the cost of Lisa Wincz. We live in Chilliwack area. I am not sure if that is a concern but I thought I should give our area. Could you please e-mail me at m_pilloud@yahoo.ca Thank you all so much for the help you have given to us. Best wishes to all, Melodie (Ty's mom)
    P.S. Also any info from the families that use Andrea Shape would be great too. Thanks again.

    Hello All, Well I have to tell you that when I sent my post this afternoon… I did not want a war to start over my words. I was not trying to take credit away from anyone in this group. So many of you have done so much to help this cause…. and I thank each and everyone of you. I also want to thank all those who have taken the time to write to me and help me with all my question I have had in the past. Again I did not want to hurt anyone with my post. Melodie
    P.S. Thank you Pete for your post…. you said it much better than I did!

    Dear Anonymous, I am sorry if I offended anyone here. I did say "and to the other parents who have helped in the fight for our children." I do know that without Sabrina we would not be where we are today… I just wanted to thank EVERYONE involved with getting our children what they truely need. Again I am sorry to have hurt anyones feeling with my post! It was meant to be a nice post not a hurtful one. Melodie (Ty's Mom)

    Hello All, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Linda Cucek and the other parents who have made it possible for the children over the age of 6 years old to get the funding for ABA therapy. Without you the children over 6 would still be left out in the dark. You all should be so proud of your selves… You are our ANGELS!!! And we should all be sending thanks to these people who have worked so hard, putting all their time and energy into helping our children. Best wishes to all, Melodie (Ty's Mom)

    Hello everyone, I have news and questions too. First the good news…. we are meeting with the ministry to fill out the forms for Ty's funding. I am so happy but confused and here is where I could use your help before I go tomorrow morning. We have the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre would like to help us by taking over and helping with getting us started. The only thing is that they say 10 hours a week is enough for Ty for therapy. Plus i guess the 30 minutes of OT and speech. Now I have been told that it would be 10 hours of ABA. But is that really enough? I do not have the money to put out for anything extra so I am worried that Ty will not get what he needs either way. So if you could please write me and give me your input on this. I want to ask all the right questions and do not want to make any choices with out the help of this group. Thank you for your time on this and as always for your help. Best wishes, Melodie (Ty's mom) m_pilloud@yahoo.ca

    Hello Lisa, I saw your post this morning…Please call Surrey Memorial Hospital, they are now doing what Sunny Hill is and in way less the time. But you will have to get a child psychologist as well. But if it helps you to get your diagnosis faster I think you should try it. Hope you don't mind my 2 cents. Best of luck, Melodie (Ty's mom)

    Hello Everyone, this is an update / question kind of e-mail. Okay after having Ty tested at ABLE/Surrey Memorial Hospital/Dr. Melvin Delevie and Dr.Glenn Ward we have everything we could have gotten from Sunny Hill but in 3/4 less the time. So for those whom are waiting for Sunny Hill you may want to look into Surrey hospital as they now have everything but the child psychologist to do the same testing that Sunny Hill provides for those who can get in. Sorry folks but I am bitter that we were told 6 – 8 months for a child of Ty's age then after waiting 4 months being told it was going to be another 12 months or so before we could get him in. Anyways here is my question for you all…. I pray someone will have an answer for me before the Ministry of children and families comes tomorrow at 1:30pm. ( I know I left this tell the last minute and I'm sorry)… What do I need to ask for with regards to some kind of funding for my little boy? I am so not good at any of this and I really want to be prepared for this woman. She kind of freaked me out the other day when she called and told me that things are much different out here in Chilliwack then they were in Surrey. She told me it wouldn't be as easy… What does that mean? I should pack up and move back there??? No way… I just really need to know if she is trying to snowball me or not. Gosh I wish I had one of the moms/dads whom I have talked to before with so much more understanding of this to sit with me and help me with the questions etc. Anyways if you can please send me an e-mail with help it sure would be welcomed. I am so very glad I have this group to ask questions etc. you all are great. Thank you so very much. My address is m_pilloud@yahoo.ca Best wishes, Melodie (Ty's mom)

    Hello Everyone, Well the diagnosis is that Ty is mild to moderate autistic. So I guess my question is what do I do from here. I am waiting for the government to give us the okay for funding for therapy… but now what! What kind of learning toys should we pick up for Ty? Where do we start with therapy? When will my head stop spinning from all the questions I have jumbled up in my mind? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Melodie & Ty m_pilloud@yahoo.ca}
