The upcoming Feat Workshop for "intermediate therapists" looks like a much needed educational opportunity. There are so few "continuing education opportunities" for line therapists – especially if your consultant is not local. As a FEAT member in Alberta, I would be interested in finding out who is delivering this workshop. Initially, I had been wondering whether we could afford to send one or two of our team members to Vancouver for this but then it occurred to me that I would first like to explore whether an organized group of parents might be able to pool their resources to bring the presenter to Edmonton. SO, this is a long way of asking a short question…who is putting this on and would it be possible to get their contact information? I can also be reached directly at Rachel.Notley@shaw.ca Thanks.

    Hi (Froc).

As someone who believes strongly in the benefits of the labour movement, and also as someone who believes strongly in the benefits of ABA and the benefits of having properly trained ABA therapists in the classroom, I have wrestled a great deal with the issues often discussed on this website. In so doing, (and as one with a fair amount of professional experience in the labour movement) I have tried to craft in my own mind a solution that on the one hand, recognizes the rights of employees, and on the other, insures proper training, oversight and consistency with respect to the aids assisting our kids in the school system. I don't know that I have the solution, nor do I know whether it would ever be accepted by the bargaining unit. But I would love to discuss this matter in a more "brainstorming" kind of context. Please e-mail me directly at

Hi there. I heard at some point over the last two or three months that Catherine Maurice had recently written a new book which described some of the more recent challanges they had experienced with their kids' social skills etc. when they got older. However, when I tried finding it on the internet, nothing came up. Now I'm wondering if this was just a figment of my imagination. I know that she definately wrote some more "how to" type of books after LMHYV, but I had understood this most recent publication to be more of a "LMHYV – Part 2" kind of thing. Does anyone out there know if there really is such a book by her?

    Thanks.

I don't know the answer to your question but had planned to ask for exactly
the same thing when my daughter turns one (next month). I would be very
interested in hearing about any response you receive on this issue and I'll
let you know what I hear back from my family doctor.
