    Good Evening,

I was hoping to get some referrals for a Speech Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist. These therapists should know how to follow the behaviour plan set out by our Consultant. The problem that we have been having is that the SLP and OT that we have had experience with, come to the house and as soon as our child exhibits any type of behaviour (escaping behaviour to avoid the task at hand) the therapists say, "oh well that's all for today", or "looks tired to me".

If anyone could give us a couple of names of noted SLPs or OTs that you have had success with, please, please let us know. We are looking for an SLP that can help us with information on setting up social/play groups or knows of any play groups to join. Does anyone know/have experience with any structured social play groups? It doesn't matter where the person is located as long as we can get some quality therpay we are willing to drive anywhere. We are willing to go on a waitlist if need be.
While I'm begging, can anyone recommend a private 1:1 swimming teacher and a gymnastics coach. We have tried various facilities, but unless the person has some grasp of ABA, it has proven to be a challenge.

Please help us if you can. We thank you in advance for any information!

    Dear Fellow Parents,
Our daughter is 5 years old and just loves swimming.
Can anyone kindly recommend a swimming instructor who would be able to provide private lessons and has experience with children on the spectrum.
Any leads would be greatly appreciated,

Sorry I can only post messages on the classifieds, the screen always freezes on me when I try to post on the other chat boards. If any one can help me figure out why, that would be great. My question is a school related one – I was wondering if those parents that have children in the West Vancouver School District (mine is entering Kindergarten) could give me any feed back on their experiences – we are in the Irwin Park catchment. Does anyone have any experience with this school? When do the schools usually hire the SEA that will work with the child. I have an appointment with the Principal and the Special Ed teacher to talk about my child to begin the front-loading. Anyone can tell me what the process is?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Nick

    Good Afternoon,
Has anyone had experience with sending their child with ASD to any of the Catholic Schools? We were considering two schools one in West Vancouver and the other near UBC. Can anyone please share their thoughts. Thanks in advance, please e-mail asd1@shaw.ca

    Good Evening

I am looking for some help and advise. Our daughter will be entering Kindergarten in the upcoming school year 2009-2010 and we are feeling quite anxious about where we should enroll her. We have had to fight several battles already at her preschool in order to get the proper aide support for her. Infact, in September they flat out told us to go home that there would be no help for her and that they could not enroll her in the class. We fought that battle and have since received the appropriate help for her. However this whole ordeal has left us tired and frankly quite bitter.
We are willing to re-locate (anywhere in Vancouver) upon recommendation of an Elementary School that is sensitive to the needs of children on the spectrum and supportive of the gains she has been making and will continue to make in her ABA therapy.

Would anyone please be willing to share their experiences with the educational system whether it be PUBLIC or PRIVATE. Can anyone tell us of any resources we can use to make an informed and best choice of learning environment for our daughter? Which schools are more receptive to bringing in your own SEA?

Any and all information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have my daughter start a happy and healthy school career, however my past experience tells me this will be a very difficult task to achieve.

Many thanks in advance, our e-mail address is asd1@shaw.ca

    Nick
