    Hey y'all

sorry in my last post when I said

"** Most of our real autism funding organizations are not funded by government. But the ones that are will not tell you the truth at all so beware **

    WHAT I MEAN IS :

MOST OF OUR REAL AUTISM AWARENESS ORGANIZATIONS/PROGRAMS not the autism funding organizations.

Please take note. That's what happens when we are so burnt out with our special kids.

    See ya

Dear all parents, caregivers, professionals and fellow FEATers,

Please put aside our differences and focus on ONE thing which is to make AUTISM a worldwide awareness.

In my daily life with my child, I struggle constantly to go to the community with him not being stared at or avoided. I fought for a diagnosis when noone heard me and thankfully won.

But the enemy ahead of us is the unknown. As long as AUTISM is swept under the carpet, none of what you all propose will happen.

Stand united and remain bonded. This is a battle we are fighting here. This is global. The discrepancy in funding here and down south is sickening. We strive to be like Americans in every other factor (fashion, entertainment, etc.) but when it comes to AUTISM we are far behind.

AUTISM is not only lifelong for us, the way it remains it creates fear in the community too if we don't get the word out there and educate the general public. But that being said, there are still TONS of people out there that do NOT have autism in their family that will be out to support US and that is courageous of them. My hats off to you all because you deserve that.

Pick our battles wisely and fight the good fight because that is the only way we will all WIN.

Perhaps you could start a chat board if any of you are interested to persue discussions outside of this chatroom for other interventions? I am sure you could include a link so that all comments could be re-directed there.

I plan to go to the March Rally on Sunday and stake MY claim and stand out in that crowd. I don't just do that for me and my family but I represent all of you too because believe it or not, we are in this together.

Anyways, I have a ton of housework waiting and a preschooler calling me so cheers you all.

    Dear parents,
Please advise your experience with dental surgery with Monarch Pediatric Dental and Pediatric Dental Group.

Any experience with these facilities would be appreciated. Hope to hear more about surgery for our little one. Thx.

    Well Todd and David

I would like to chime in here.

I agree that we need to educate the other 95% that need to be in the know. They need to know how autism will affect the rest of the population (without appropriate life-changing ABA therapy and possibly bio-med) the person with autism is going to be "assisted" for the rest of his life.

Would it be not more useful to educate the 95% and use the rally as our tool to share not only what we struggle with but that the fact is it is a challenge all of society will have.

Thankfully we are able to see the change in the general public's concern for autism treatment especially I'd say in the last 5 years since Hollywood celebs are talking and doing tell all books.

But let's not forget the troopers in the front lines that fought to give us our funding we currently collect. That is not a lot but better than nothing of course so our applause to the people that were out there.

However the situation remains that if we cannot attract the votes from the rest of the non-autistic (forgive me use of this term) to bring in their votes for our kids to the right office, we could be doing this over and over until whenever.

Making it essential that the public need to see how life-changing autism is vs. cancer is important. In my limited community special needs is accepted but not necessary celebrated and this rally is what we need.

    Comments?

    Hi all,

anyone have any good or bad feedback regards to Monarch Pediatric in Bby. We have cavities for Luke and cost is in thousand and over.

Please advise also if you have had services with BC Children's Hospital Dental Clinic and how it has been. Nervous because they sound like they are dental students. However if we can have Luke's teeth (4 cavities) done it would really ease our costs and we can put more money to his ABA therapy.

HOw long was the procedure and how long did it take for your child to wake up.

Is the list at Children's as horribly long as it is? My dentist said 8months and I called and they said booking consultations into April.

    Please advise.
Thanks a bunch. A penny saved is a penny earned toward ABA Therapy .

    Dear Another Mom

Could you elaborate a bit more on why/how it was difficult to implement a member of your home team to the school?

What kind of difficulties do schools have doing that? I only see the advantages so I would like to know more cons.

To my knowledge the person can be paid less than a union position and if they use ABA it will make the situation much easier on the classroom teacher. So I see this as an all around happy situation.

Please accept my gratitude for posting this much info. It helps to know that we can see the positives still through so much negatives.

    Have a good weekend

Thanks for your detailed comments on the school IEP and funding info about public or private school.

I am curious if you could give me some more advice with the hiring of the senior therapist to the school. How long did it take? What steps were implemented to be able to have school "catch on" to the idea?

Our situation is that Luke is high functioning to the point he would be easily sought out as one on the spectrum, however have a 2 minute conversation with him and you know he is definately aspergers like.

The school says that Luke is high function and that most kids are just coming to his standards so that we should be happy with what we have. They also advise the category G is only for half time which = 2 hrs automatically.

Interesting since this is all without having any ABA trained therapist at the school to determine that. Nor any consultant for that matter.

Is this a long process and what can we do as parents to at these IEP meetings? I do know that crying gets a deaf ear but it is hard not react emotionally because it is our child and not a file number after all.

Your comments would be appreciated if you want to post here or email me direct at :

Thanks a lot. Anyone have suggestions or info, don't hesitate to share because we are parents helping parents.
