Thanks Cheryl for the email address!
Sheila HotraMemberHi,
Just wondering if anyone knows the email address for Irene's company that sells ABA supplies. I believe it is called "High-five", I have searched but have not be able to locate it.
Thanks for your help.
Sheila HotraMemberAnna,
I opened up a Leo account(which is a child's savings account at the Royal bank). They put it in my name and after my name ITF(in trust for) my child's name. I just told them what was needed that we had to be able to write cheques and get a statement, and they provided these services on this account. At the end of March/2003 when my child turns 7(which makes him too old?!) I will just turn it into a regular savings account for my child. (they usually start off this type of account with $5.00 for the child, but they said just to remind them when we switch it over and they will put the money in then.)
Sheila HotraMemberHi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Laurel Group (the me-2-program). I had a meeting with a new consultant, Nicholas Watkins, who has worked at the UCLA replication site(He has been with Laurel group since Dec/01). I would be interested in hearing about any experience, good or bad.Feel free to email me at shotra@shaw.ca or phone Sheila at 552-3810. Thank you.
Sheila HotraMemberHi, This is not related to our ABA program, but was just wondering if any parents have had any experience or suggestions on how to deal with eyeglasses. Our son went to the eye doctor today, and he has a lazy eye, which of course they want us to patch and get him to wear glasses as well. My son is quite obessive compulsive, when he had stitches last year he pulled half of them out. I am wondering how on earth I am going to get him to leave an eye patch and glasses on for 8 hours a day. He is only 5yrs old and has no speech and reasoning with him isn't going to be easy. I was also wondering if anybody has gone to a store to buy glasses that was or is experience in dealing with special needs children. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sheila HotraMemberHi, I was wondering what people have found successful in getting/helping your child to speak. We have a aba program up and running, but don't seem to be getting very far with his speech. Obviously there has been improvement, but my son is turning 5 this year, and he has no words whatsoever, and this is scaring me. I have heard that it is harder to get children to speak after the age of 6 or 7?? You can e-mail me at shotra@home.com Thanks for your time, Sheila
Sheila HotraMemberHi Everbody, I just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my request about information on Melatonin. Everyone was very helpful, and I am happy to say that we started using it 4 nights ago, and so far so good, except one night he was up for 3 hours. I know it is still early and we are keeping a sleep diary. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again Sheila

Sheila HotraMemberHi, my son is 4 1/2 and we are having problems with him waking up in the middle of the night and either not going back to sleep, or awake for 2 or 3 hours before he does. We are looking into putting him on melatonin. I know it is only available it the states. Just wondering if there are different types and what people have found to be successful. We are going to discuss it with our pediatrician tomorrow. Any information anyone has would be very useful, what brand you buy, where you usually get it, etc. You can e-mail me directly at shotra@home.com We are finding his ABA sessions difficult and less productive when he hasn't slept properly. Thanks Sheila
