Hi again everyone – wow, within minutes of my post, I have had a pile of helpful responses in my inbox.  This is why we love the FEAT board!  You are amazing for taking time to reply so quickly.  I will pass on your advice to the family and am so grateful to all of you.

I realized belatedly that I had a related question on their behalf:  they have been told of a private diagnostic test which costs a couple of thousand dollars, which yields a ‘for-sure’ answer as to the diagnosis.  There was nothing like this in our day and I’m just wondering if anyone has any info. on this – again, replies on this question to my private e-mail – andreafinch@shaw.ca – would be appreciated.

Hi there, fellow parents.  We have family friends with a 2 year old they are thinking needs a preliminary pediatric assessment.  It would seem that Dr. de Levie has retired – does anyone have recent recommendations for pediatricians either on the North Shore, or in the Vancouver area generally?  Please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca.  Many thanks.

    To David Bridges,

Thanks for your thought-provoking post David. Not sure whether you were planning to have your discussion on the Chat Board, or at a private e-mail address?

As to the Hewko talk, I suspect, but don't know for certain, that most parent group talks will be winding down for the summer, but I could get you the notes of one that's been done through the ASBC, if you want to contact me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca

    Cheers,
    Andrea

    ** Free Shelving Available **

Great deal for any family just starting, or already up and running with an ABA programme and looking to organize all the related materials. We are moving, no room for our current shelving, and we're prepared to donate it to an ABA family or group (if you contact us before someone from Craigslist does).

We have 3.5 IKEA Bonde units, each is about 7' tall, 2.5 ft wide and 13" deep. Great for organizing, upper doors can lock to keep restricted reinforcers out of sight and out of reach. You must pick up from our home in North Vancouver, either before items are sold or before June 29th, at which time they will be donated to the Salvation Army Thrift Store.

If interested, or for a photo which I don't seem to be able to post here, please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca.

** Pill Swallowing request – Thank you all! **

Just a quick thank you to everyone who responded so quickly and caringly to my post. We now have a number of different ideas – and while several of you noted this is NOT medical advice, and to check with a doctor or pharmacy first before trying, we feel so supported by this wonderful Chatboard community! Thank you, parents of pill-swallowers, and thank you FEAT for being here!

** Question for fellow parents **

Hi everyone – does anyone have advice on how to get your kid to swallow a pill? It cannot be chewed or broken up in any way.

If you have any ideas (or perhaps a magic spell?), please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca

    Thanks!
    Andrea
