I am doing a research paper for university, and am interested in finding any information regarding treatment options for older children. My paper is on media reports regarding the current gov't funding for autistic children. I have to present arguments for and against the funding. While I am familiar with early intervention, I lack knowledge about intervention for older children. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail me directly at: bowling@telus.net
Thank you in advance for you help.

Deleted UserMemberMy information from quite a reliable source is that families of children who are 6 and over will receive approximately $500 per month. Very disturbing as the current funding of $1667.00 just barely allows us to have a good program in place. Has anyone actually gone to their social worker and used the latest court ruling to demand services for their over 6 child? If so, what was the result?
Deleted UserMemberRE: Anon post regarding School Board allowing ABA aids in class.
My experience in Vancouver School Board at the kindergarten level to date has been NO they do not allow this. Nor will they allow our therapist to train a staff member in ABA. I am presently in middle of a long drawn out battle with Vancouver School Board to allow therapist in class to work with my child. If you can at all avoid it do so, the Vancouver Board is totally against ABA therapists in the class. (Strange given they cry constantly about teachers being overworked and classrooms crowded)
To protect my child and his chances I must sign this anon.
Deleted UserMemberHi everyone. My family is considering a move to Vancouver and we have a daughter who will be six this summer. I have heard the West Van school board is quite accomodating, allowing autistic students' their own ABA therapists at school. Does anyone know of any other schools in Vancouver that allow parents to send their own ABA therapist to school with their child? We would rather be in a more central location (South Vancouver rise is best for work) if at all possible.
Thanks in advance for any advice you might have.Deleted UserMemberI would like information on where I could purchase a "wet alarm" in the lowermainland. We are finding that this may be necessary to successfully toilet train our son for independence. I know that some parents have used it with their children with wonderful success. Thank you for your help.
Deleted UserMemberthis is in response to Timothy Ralphs re: friend in Maple Ridge.
I live in Maple Ridge. I have two children in Lovaas programs and have been in programs for over 2.5 years. I am also active in FEAT so I am knowledgeable with a variety of consultants etc.
Your friend can contact me at Mkarren1@aol.com
THere is an ASBC meeting in maple ridge but it is not directed towards issues of ABA.
Hope this helps,

My child will be turning 7 soon. From what I understand the government funding runs out then…is this true. If so, does this mean that the world and gives up at this age? What's with that? I don't know where else to go, so anyone with information. Please reply to this.
Thank you
