MemberLooking to hire a full team for a well establish ABA program in the Victoria area come August as my family will be moving there from Vancouver. We are unsure exactly where in Victoria we may be, but just putting this out there to get some ideas of where all the therapists and potential therapists live. My son is 7yrs old and has had great success with his program for the past 3yrs. He is fairly high functioning with speech that has come in the last year. Looking for people with enthusiasm and great passion in wanting to help my son continue to grow. Wages dependent on experience.

MemberThanks Nancy
and to the last message I answer;"who are you?"
first of all you do enjoy putting people's names down hey? Hope it makes you feel better. but really who are you to make such allegations as to I don't know what ABA is? I've been around it for yrs and do know about. I never said that I don't support it. I simply said that there are other choices out there that are sometimes better depending on the child. And for lots of them it is ABA that's the best and some not… simply put. Do you wear the same clothes (color-fit-size) as all the other woman on the planet?
I very well know that ABA is great and it's got lost of proofs to it. OPEN MINDEDNESS it's called.
And again do you know Cindhy personally or what? She knows way more about ABA than you could imagine. If it's all from the newspaper; well as an adult you should know that the the media always protays things the way they want it….Please don't make judgement about people + put their names in a public site like this. I hope you know how hurtful this can be…
To all other parents;
I just hope that this litte discussion will only make you understand about being adult and use what's called "ACCEPTANCE". Acceptance of:
-diffenrence that are between 2 different people's minds and choices
-that no one is ever absolutely right
-that this is life!
If you all have been able to accept that you have an autistic child; you can accept this difference that seems to be dividing parents in two groups around here but really; we're all here defending our kids.this is only because of LOVE …

Member1st;I am writing in reguards to somebody pointing specificly at another parent with autism in the past couples of postings. I can't beleive a parent going through the same difficult times can judge somebody like this…
2nd People should realize that even ABA as good as it is; is not always the only answer. Other therapies can work just as good, and when I heard in the articles that some who fought for the funding beleived that only ABA should be funded. Well sorry to dissapoint but there are other therapies out there that have sometimes little modifications on their therapies and sometimes major …. and they have data to prove it as well. I was dissapointed to see that some people are very closed minded as to other situations that sometimes work better. As moms we can feel if something is right for our children or not and if it will work or not. Yes I did choose a different type of therapy for my son because I did not beleive he needed 40 hrs a week of therapy a week to get better. With only 16hrs per week for the last 2 yrs… he's improved like I can't even describe. So when I hear somebody who says only one path works it makes me sad. I think there should be a little more open mindedness aroud other behavior therapies. And please don't point at anybody like that without even knowing the person and why a choice was made. We all make choices that people don't agree with.Deleted User

I have been working as an Education Assistant in SD68 for 4 years and have recently started up my own business doing care and Intervention. I have a lot of experience with children who have Autism. I am also available to attend summer camps throughout the summer after getting to know your child. I can be reached at CISCI@shaw.ca for more information.

MemberThe most amazing 4yr old boy is awaiting you to be his therapist! He is so much fun , high functioning and very easy going. He is a rapid learner so there is always something new to come to work to and he has quite the sense of humor. This job is in Cloverdale so you must live close by or drive…if you are coming from out of town you may consider another family out here (there are many!) to work with on alternating shifts. This job also may have room for advancement as our lead therapist will be starting her pdp possibly in June or September.
Don't pass up this great opportunity and getting the chance to meet this great little guy!
Please contact Adam or Shannah at adamnshan908@hotmail.com or 604-574-4978 Thanks.
