MemberTherapist needed in the Langford area for a 7 year old boy who has been in program for a few years now. Aidan is loving, goofy, easy to please and loves to learn. We are under the consultation of Michele Fagan. Experience not necessary but definately an asset. I am looking for someone who is committed to having fun who has high reinforcement and is reliable. Someone who doesn't just see this as a job, but as a great opportunity to help a young man reach his fullest potential. You must have an up to date record check and references. Wages are decided by experience.

MemberLooking for a consultant in the Nanaimo – Port Hardy area for anywhere from one to several families in Port Hardy. The families are willing to travel to Nanaimo or anywhere in between. Some have lost funding because of no consultants or workers. Any help or info would be great!

My child is now 7 and we have always kept up both languages with him. Believe it or not, just because they do not speak well, they actually pick up quite a bit. Because the speech part does not match with his peers (people his age)then it is assumed that they cannot handle it. I was told by one teacher to switch only to english but we still carry on chinese with him. Now my son can speak fluently (need help with pragmatic language though) and still understands chinese. This is essential as I believe it helps his brain develop and sharpens it too. My opinion anyways. Please note: always compare your child to your child like 3 months ago. Improvements are seen much better and fair if you only compare him to himself before. It is a challenging journey but as most parents agree, it is also most rewarding. Someday your child will thank you for all the hard work. Chin up!Deleted User

MemberOk – so again its paper time for me at school. Here my topic – Autism as a social issue or something along those lines. What I want to show, the challenges RE: funding, support for ABA from governments, schooling issues – politics, not autistic enough for support, ect ect. Anyone want to share some insites, links, articles or comments please send me a message!
I want to prove that people with Autism deserve support and that this is a social issue. Thanks.Deleted User
MemberHello Everyone,
My husband and I are needing your help. Our daughter(3 years old) has just been diagnosed and we are trying to put our team together. As we are noticing very quickly, it is difficult once you parachute into this world of Autism to try to find decent and honest people to truly help your child. Everybody tells you something different and my "gut instinct" that I thought was once very sharp is now becoming very foggy and tired. So as desperation sets in, can anyone please e-mail us and recommend some consultants that have a long and healthy reputation in the field. Please tell us why you are recommending this person or group, even if you know they have a waiting list.

MemberHello, I'm new here but not to school problems. Right now I'm dealing with an indefinite suspension of my Asperger son….administered on October 1. No IEP, no staff training…the whole works.
This is no longer an advocacy issue, but to seek a resolution for placement with staff who can and do support his needs. What have other districts done for students when it's obvious their in-house staff cannot provide? Thank you for any suggestions or success stories.
