Dave (posting for Michelle Weis) although, I
am equally thankfulDavid ChanMemberHi all,
Since I posted the recipe idea, I found out that
you actually have to visit the board to get the
file. so what you have to do is to go to
http://www.featbc.org and then visit the chat from
there, then you can download the file. I
welcome all comments and look forward to
posting it on the website, and making it
available. The only thing that I like to ask is
that everyone respond as promptly as
possible, so that i can incorporate all the info
and post it.Thanx
Dave
David ChanMemberHi all,
I have been working on this little recipe for
how to setup a home program. just the
different steps. and the lingo that we use in
programs, like senior therapist, consultant,
case manager, I have tried to define the terms
and also give a general shape of what a day
looks like. Could you all have a look at the file,
and see what i might have missed and also
stuff a new parent would like to know, and
add to it. The object is to get a reasonably
condensed version of a home program setup,
get it translated in to a number of languges as
well and see how we make out with it click on
the attachment it is a MS Word file so most of
you should be able to read ithomeprogramrecipe.doc

We need to get the boy an aide for school. if
any one has any insights into hiring an
aide. Our team is very green and all are
returning to school full time in the fall. We
don't have someone on the team that will
easily become the aide. Our primary issue
will behaviour support, and some academic.
We have the threapy schedule nailed. but,
school aide issue is still a quite a wild card at
this stage. Any helpful insight would be
appreciated.email

David ChanMemberHi
I get the Sun, and I missed it, can you believe
it. I gotta say, I have done the research, no I
did not pick Lovaas out of hat. I think why
people don't want to admit that the therapy
works, is that underneath it all, no one wants
to recognize what a tremendous amount of
commitment and work it is for the families.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to give these children
a shot, or a pill and poof they are normal
to-morrow.
Lovaas is back breaking, WORK, make no
mistake.
I met this lady
at the workshop at SFU last summer, her
comment was, I quote "You guys live this stuff
don' t you?",
Pretty much she hit the nail on the head. I bet
you all these other therpies that are so much
better, notice none were named, none of them
will involved the
sheer work and tenacity that a Lovaas
program needs. All the
folks doing programs should be given a
collective pat on the back,
for sticking with it and forging ahead.Have a good night everyone, I know I will sleep
better than some people in West Vancouver
who are chasing rainbows, and finding that
perfect effortless individual therapy for their
child.Dave
