    Hello everyone,

I am a father of a 7-year old autistic child and we are considering a move to Vancouver.
I am gathering information about ABA (Lovaas-style) services that may be available in the city.
There are several places who claim to be providing ABA. I have heard of the ABLE clinic, CBI consultants, Laurel Division and Tiny Talkers. Does anyone have experience/information about any of those places?
I have heard positive feedback about Early Autism Project. More info about that and other local providers that may be out there is highly appreciated.
    Please reply to hafez_amr@yahoo.com

    Tanks a lot!

Our 4 year old son has been diagnosed in the Autism Spectrum – diagnosed with PDD-NOS and with ADHD. We are just getting started to look for a Behaviour Consultant and the Behaviour Interventionists (Therapists) to work with him in our Surrey home. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

    Hi Everyone,

A short note of warning for you all. I have been trying to get a crimnial record check from one of my employees, but she insists that "none of her other families require it"
PLease, please make sure that ALL of your therapists have a record check and that you have a copy of it. If the MCFD does one of their random audits of your program they will insist on seeing them.
It is a requirement for funding (the tiny, inadequate funding!!)
Also, if you do not ask your therapists for one, you make it much harder for those of us who HAVE to have one (due to Ministry audits)

    Thanks,

    Deb

The Early Autism Project, ULC would like to inform you that we are holding Junior/Line Therapist Training Class at the EAP clinic on Henning Drive on March 20th, April 24th, May 22nd and June 26th, 2004 from 9:00-1:00 for therapists performing early intervention treatment for children with autism.

This class will address several topics that outline the basic foundation for junior therapists to increase their skills in Lovaas-style ABA therapy. Therapists will learn the basics of Discrete Trial, information on very basic behaviour modifications, tips on reinforcement, etc. It is a basic, informational training course designed to sharpen therapy skills.

The Line Training Class will take approximately four hours to complete; two hours of discussion and two hours of participation. We will cover not only the areas listed above but also provide a chance for therapists to get individual work time with an EAP Supervisor in order to hone their skills and ask questions regarding therapy or working with children with autism.

Interested therapists or families should contact Michele Shilvock at 604-473-5011 with the necessary information as soon as possible including specified class date and a contact number. The cost of the class will be 50 dollars.

    Supervisor, EAP, ULC
