Coordinating ABA treatment and Government Supported Child Development Aids

    Hi
We have been approved for an aide in William's preschool and daycare settings. I need some advice on how to make sure that SCD is in line with his ABA treatment. We will be receiving funding for William (4 years old).

Has anyone had any experiences with SCD and their ABA program? Any tips/advice?

    Regards
    Heather (William's mom)

My almost four year old son has been recently diagnosed with autism and we are looking for a behavioral consultant.

I have heard good things about Michele Shilvock and would like to heard about your experience if you have/are working with her.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I live in New West and would like to connect with other parents who live in the area to meet for coffee. I feel quite isolated in my experience being new to all this.

    Hi

I have managed to get my name on the waitlist for several consultants and agencies, including the aba learning center. Does anyone have any experiences that they can share with me? Thank you all again!

    To Heather Burke (William's mom).

My son (2yrs 9mths) was just diagnosed with Autism as well, assessed by Ron Schmidt of ABLE. I have a few pointers for you that I received from another mom from FEATBC. Maybe I can help. You can email me back at brrutherford@hotmail.com

Looking for receommendations on a behavioural consultant.

My 4 year old son was recently diagnosed with autism by Dr. DeLevie. We are getting him assessed by Ron Schmidt at ABLE.

Is ABA appropriate for a high functioning child? I am looking for any scientific literature I can read on this topic.

Also, we are looking for a behavioural consultant. The list from ACT is overwhelming. Please help me narrow the list by giving me some names of consultants that you would recommend.

Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi Dave,
I tried teach town with the 7 year old boy I currently do intervention for. This is a pretty amazing program.
It is all ABA style teaching, and uses fun activities to keep the child interested. He liked using it because normally when he has time with me the computer is closed. It is a very smart program, and when a child picks the same acitivity more than a few times it makes that one unavailable for awhile so they have to pick something different. it offers a good resource for parents and staff either in the home or at school to communicate and take notes effectivily for the child, if the teachtown is installed at home and at school – the child gets a user name – if both computers are online they update each other so home can see what the child did and so can school, so it tracks the childs progress and your not doing the same activity at home and at school. it also has a questionair for the parent or person who is setting this up for the child to get an idea of their reading level and other things. I reccomend trying the 60 day trial – but you must give your credit card info and you have to call and cancell before the 60 days is over or you will begin to pay their monthy fee for it which i belive is around $40 cnd per month – its a subscription based program. Really worth a try!
