Langley Senior Centre

Civil Rights Now! Is a not for profit, non-partisan, all volunteer society that thinks the way the government of BC delivers services to people with disabilities strips them of their freedom and dignity.
What do people with disabilities and their families need?
· Law that gives the equality provisions of the Canadian Charter practical force and effect in their daily lives.
· Law that gives every person with a disability truly-portable, sufficient-funded, consumer-driven Individualized funding.
· The ability to enforce the law by government funding of test cases involving civil rights of people with disabilities.
Civil Rights Now! is organizing a campaign to
persuade the provincial Liberals and NDP to make a commitment that if they win the next election they will put these three ideas into action.

November 4, 2010 at 4:24 pm #825Dione CostanzoParticipantHi everyone,
The ABA Support Network is pleased to announce the launch of 9 Neighborhood Network groups!
Small groups of ABA parents wanting to connect and network locally have been established in 9 areas in BC. Please contact the facilitator of a group to find out more and join the meetings. Each group will be having monthly meetings and time and date will be determined by what works for each group.
The meeting agenda of each group will vary depending on that areas needs and wants. If it is getting together for coffee or organizing a group to advocate for ABA services in school this is where you can participate and get the support you need.
Please see our website for a list of the areas, facilitators and contact information.

October 20, 2010 at 9:09 pm #827Stacey ParsonMemberThis message is in response to Nancy's post about an Abbotsford Support Group. A friend and I had discussed starting one in the past and we are very excited to get this underway. We have a venue at a school in Abbotsford but now we need feedback on days and times parents would be available to attend. Please respond to jsparson@telus.net if you're interested in attending.
Thank you,
StaceyOctober 20, 2010 at 4:17 am #828Nancy WaltonParticipantAbbotsford – Chilliwack parents
We have 4 parents in Aldergrove, Abbotsford and Chilliwack who would like to attend an ABA Support Network small group meeting, but we need someone to host and organize such a group. Anyone interested in getting to know your fellow parents in your area? I think networking is very important to the health and welfare of an autism family.
If you would like to organize this group, e-mail the ABA Support Network.
