Hi Everyone: Just wondering if anyone would be willing to share some info with me. I am currently negotiating with a Sr. Therapist and would appreciate any feedback on how much families pay their sr.'s for the consultant facilitated in-home workshops. I have heard some pay at a decreased hourly rate and some pay a per diem. Please feel free to email me privately at: ourhouse@direct.ca

    Thanks in advance.

Jason I find the Wisconsin Group excellent but have no experience with any
    other group.

We have been working with them since October, so far so good.

We may be one a the families with the most experience with WEAP.

    Hi Jason;

If you go to Dr. Lovaas's site http://www.lovaas.com there is a list of replication sites which he has approved as models of his work. WEAP is on that list, but I did not see Autism Partnership (at that time) on the list. This was one of the main reasons we have gone with WEAP. We want a program as close as we can get to the Lovaas UCLA program which also replicats his results. Good Luck in your search.

    Sandy

p.s. WEAP has a very strict protocol and your child must be evaluated by certain professionals with specified tests. Personally, I think this is very beneficial. It establishes a baseline for the program so that you can see how your child has made gains and it will be a useful tool in demonstrating to those "officials" that this program WORKS !!!! because here is the hard evidence (data). It may be helpful in the future if we must continue to fight for our children's rights.

    Hi
Is anyone using a Speech and Language Pathologist in the Vancouver area who is really good with high functioning autistic preschoolers? Are there many difficulties having a SLP work well with an ABA team? Or is this a silly question? We are really new to this game and would appreciate any advice you might have. For instance, if you have a really strong response to "If I was starting this whole thing over again, this time I'd…" well, please email us.

Also, we've heard that some people are getting ABA therapist applicants who aren't able to commute very far because they are using public transit. If you do get somebody in this position who would be able to get Downtown, could you give them our number: 689-2462.

We are just starting a new program with WEAP and have the first workshop tentatively booked for FEB 24/25.

    Thanks so much,
    Paula and Tim (Sebastian's parents)

    Hello,

Has anyone heard if there will be another Seminar on the how's and wherefore's of setting up and administering a homebased ABA program? I have been told that these seminars offered by FEAT and senior therapists such as Claire Egan are excellent for new parents and their team. Please let us know if there is one coming up, as we are eager to attend. Thank you.

    Hi Everyone,

We haven't used the list to search for therapists in the past as we are 'island folk' but thought we'd give it a try this time.

Our son is 7 years old and has been in a program since age 3 1/2. He attends school full days. We are looking for one or two therapists to add to our current team of four. We live at Qualicum Bay on Vancouver Island. If you know of anyone living in our area who would be "prefect" for the job, please pass this message on to them. We are looking for folks for late afternoon / early evenings and possibly one weekend day.

Our email address is dmcleod@island.net. Our phone number is (250)757-8566.

Hi Everyone: I'm really disappointed at having to be 'consultant' searching after 2 1/2 yrs, but here we go again. As many of you know the Center for Early Education will be no more very very soon. Hence my post. Anybody with any info on WEAP or Dawn Holman from Autism Spectrum? Feel free to e-mail me directly: ourhouse@direct.ca

    Thanks. Happy New Year!
