I was mad when Mary Polak announced her intentions to mess with things.
I was confused to hear Rich Coleman was going to spend 20 million of tax payers money on a building for Autism.
I was proud to hear Stephan Marinoiu is on the march again. But I mourn the loss of a father and his son.

He appears in the North Vancouver Recreation Leisure Guide (Winter 2009-10). Truly inspiring to read this and to see how ABA can help someone with autism make their way, successfully into adulthood. Below is the write up (minus the picture that is in the guide) of this special young man.
An Inspiration
Ryan is an inspiration to
everyone around him.
Seventeen year old Ryan is a
familiar face at the Karen
Magnussen Community Recreation
Centre where he trains with his
Argyle School Grade 11 Boy
Strength Training Class twice a
week. Ryan also runs 3.5 miles
three times a week with his family
members and tutors to reach his
short term goal of
running 75 miles.
Ryan has participated in the 5km
ALS Walk Run and Roll and plans
to do the Sun Run with his family.
Ryan is also in the Vancouver
Adaptive Snow Sports Program
where he skies on Grouse
Mountain once a week and enjoys
going into the beginner terrain
park and taking jumps!
What you may not have known is
that Ryan has Autism Spectrum
Disorder. Ryan is an inspiration
and is truly a great example of one
of North Vancouvers
Active Heroes.

Everyone please check out our website at http://www.abasupportnetwork.com. Click on "membership" at the top of the page and then click the "click here to Join" button. On the membership page, there is also a new parent package to read or download.
We are strictly a parent run and entirely volunteer organization. With the cuts to the EIBI program, we are going to be very busy helping new parents start up quality ABA programs. We are also there give the existing ABA community a voice.
We will be holding monthly meetings at the Surrey Sport and Leisure center, but through our website and membership surveys we will tackle issues province wide.
We would greatly appreciate donations to help offset our start up costs. Donations can be made online.
Thanks to everyone for your support.

I believe Louise means the government-run "EIBI" program.
She is not talking about EIBI services in general.

September 23, 2009 at 10:55 pm #5579Milburn DrysdaleMemberHi Peter
I must confess, this is a question I have never been asked before. To voluntarily put money into your account is something that I have never thought about.
Firstly you would have to ask the Autism Funds unit if this is possible.
Secondly, from a personal standpoint, I would never hand over money to the government. Remember you want to keep the Autism Funds money separate from your personal expenditures so that you can use the latter for a medical claim with the Federal Government.
Hope this helps
