Although I have not watched all the Hollywood movies that touched on the spectrum, I would like to share a Japanese drama with more realistic and shows a truer sense of what families like us have gone through and are going through in real life.
Drama title: "With the light….embracing autism."

Don't worry. It has English subtitle. Humbly hope that para-professionals would watch it too.

Reasons, they are ill-equipped of the 'D' word. The specialists of TD Canada Trust have a lack of communication with TD Waterhouse, which handles the plan.
TD Waterhouse took 36days to open the account and so resulted in a failure to contribute for last year'••••• is very upsetting.

We have no idea what to claim etc as this is our first time filing since our son's diagnosis. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks,
ChrisFebruary 9, 2010 at 5:49 am #7118Sophia GrewalMemberAttention all South Asian families:
My name is Sophia Grewal and I am a doctoral student at Pacific University in Portland, Oregon. I am currently working on a research study that will help identify the needs of South Asian families who have children with autism.
I believe that this is valuable research that will allow psychologists, behavioral consultants, and other professionals to gain a better understanding of the difficulties faced by South Asian families when they seek services. This study will help providers tailor their treatments to the needs of South Asian families and children, and hopefully improve effectiveness and satisfaction.
I am originally from Surrey, BC. and after working with children on the autism spectrum for 3 years, it became evident to me that ethnic minority families encounter unique barriers to treatment for their children. My goal is speak to as many families as possible in order to objectively identify these barriers, which is the first step to breaking them down.
Your participation will require that you complete an in-person or telephone interview, which will take between 45 and 90 minutes. This interview may take place in your home or another quiet, public place if you prefer. I would like to emphasize that the study is COMPLETELY confidential. Results of the study will not include your name or your child's name. I will only discuss common themes found through my interviews with all of the families and will not single out any individuals or families.
If you are interested in participating, or if you would like more information about the study, please email me at sophiag@pacificu.edu or call 604-570-5000. Please leave your name and a phone number where you can be reached to set up an interview.
I look forward to hearing from you!

February 4, 2010 at 12:03 am #7119Super DadParticipantDoes anyone have a big son or a small husband?
I would like to give away a FREE pair of skates to someone living in poverty, which means almost any of us.
Since I go skating only a couple of times a year, it took me a long time to realize my skates are too tight. Now it's too late to get a refund even though I have hardly used them.
They are Bauer Supreme men's Size 6D hockey skates. That means they fit someone with size 7 or 7.5 shoes. The "D" means narrow.
Please email me:
tony.tamer@yahoo.comp.s. NO, foot size does NOT reflect the size of any other body part.
February 3, 2010 at 8:00 am #7120JenniferParticipantThis question is directed to clients of Dr. Sara White. Were any of you able to claim her invoices thru your extended medical coverage benefits, under the 'Psychologist' category ? If so, would you please email the insurance company you were able to claim from. Just to jog your memory, do you deal with: Blue Cross, Sunlife, Manuel Life, or Great West Life ?
We're currently seeking a new medical policy plan and would appreciate your input. Thanks so much in advance.

February 2, 2010 at 12:38 am #7122Milburn DrysdaleMemberI'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but now that the calendar year is complete, it's time to start collecting all your paperwork for tax time.
I've had my website up and running for just over a year now and have had many parents email me with their tax questions. Overall I am appalled at the amount of money people are throwing away.
Parents are willing to fight tooth and nail for every penny from the BC government autism funds program, but then completely screw up their taxes thereby gifting thousands of dollars to the federal government.
To counter this trend, I've created the Top Ten Tax Mistakes on my website in the hope of putting more money back in your pockets where it belongs.Good Luck

While I respect that some individuals may not have gotten enough out of the presentations, my husband and I definitely did. Some of the early material (on the first day) was not relevant to what I was looking for at the seminar but I'm sure it's hard to tailor such a broad topic to a specific audience. We were an audience of BI's, teachers and parents and I think Amanda did an awesome job of trying to incorporate some information for each of us in her presentation. I learned a lot and can't wait to send my BIs to the workshop the next time it's offered. I understand where other people may be coming from because there was a lot of introductory information that I knew from past research but I did benefit from the experience and don't feel this is the appropriate forum for a personal attack.
