If you look on the Autism Society's web page they have a real neat one.

Albert St., Port Moody -Kim and Fran will be there from 7-9 evening.Saturday at the Autism 2002 place: Executive Airport Plaza-7311 Westminister Highway, Richmond, BC. You have to call to book reservations to the conference before September 15, 2002; so they will know who is coming. Fee $236.00? for the congerence, and the High School is $15.00.

MemberThe subsidy for the Mainstream conference is only for parents of autistic children who are six and under. When I phoned them to ask why, I was told that the conference is geared to early intervention programs and so only those parents would be subsidized. The rest of us with older children would have to pay the entire $235 fee. Another example of discrimination by this government and their service providers.

MemberA quick ABA/GST question:
Our ABA Consultant/Service Provider currently charges us GST for monthly services rendered. We applied to the federal government for a "GST exemption" as it is for "medically necessary treatment" under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. We were told by Rev Canada that if the service provider has to pay GST, then we have to pay GST to them. However, any services through a "government body or institution" are GST exempt. Does anyone know how to get out of paying the GST for medical treatment for ABA therapy? Please email me at taml@telus.netthanks,
t

MemberHi all – Just a quick note to let you know that 100 parents are being subsidized to attend the "Mainstream" conference Sept 27/28/29 by MCFD. For $25 you get to hear Dr. Tristram Smith from Columbia University re: what's new in early intervention. Apparently he's quite well respected and well thought of in the ABA world. 2 Breakfasts, 2 lunches and a Banquet dinner are also included as is Guest Speaker Kim Peak aka Rainman. There is also a host of other local speakers on a variety of topics, Dr. Philip Strain of University of Colorado on Preschool Inclusion for you young folks, and a band. Interested? Call: (604) 278-5555 or 1-888-388-3932.
cheers,
