I agree with Pete Stelmaschuk, that Linda Cucek, is a great lady because she has endured so long to be an advocate for her son and other older children. She truly is an inspiration to others and Sabrina Freeman, is a great lady also for all the things she has done for FEAT BC. I feel people should applaud them both, Linda Cucek, does for sure deserve a thank you from everyone for what she has done to get the Lovaas treatment.

October 17, 2002 at 4:39 am #4730Deleted UserMemberAs a parent of an "older child", a parent who, through the years, has had success with both press and politicos, I have to say, without a shadow of a doubt, though I "done good", nothing I have done parallels the significance of the Auton case(s). Families of older children, families of children yet to be diagnosed, all should be down on their knees and thankful to FEAT. And just to be clear, coordinated by a most extraordinary lady, director, Sabrina Freeman, and led by a tenacious litagator, Brigitta (sorry, I can't recall her last name), FEAT need be recognized as a collective of committed individuals whose sole focus to achieve justice for autistic children has finally been achieved.
Congratulations, and thank you FEAT.October 17, 2002 at 4:35 am #4729Pete StelmaschukMemberMy heart goes out to Linda Cucek when thinking of all she has endured. Her son is eighteen yet still she remains active in the cause, and that should always be applauded. Likewise, Sabrina Freeman's contribution is undeniable. Both parents serve as examples for positive activism. If each of us could contribute only a small fraction in comparison to what these ladies have already done, it would be truely amazing. They are inspiration to my belief that parents can truely make the differnce in our children's lives.

October 17, 2002 at 1:21 am #4727Linda CucekMemberDear Anonymous:
Sabrina Freeman, is taking all the credit for getting the treatment for the
Lovaas treatment for the older autistics,
Melody, is the first person to really recognize what I have done & you scold her for saying thank you Linda Cucek, this is really pathetic!Sabrina Freeman, had it on her auton case in 2000; for all the kids of BC;
but if it weren't for me publicizing this fact, repeatedly, in the media and newspapers, it would
never have melo dramatically caught the attention of the Judge, and consequently
the court of appeals would not have ruled that age restriction was a new violation of the BC Government.When people do so much to help others they get over looked by the fact of what was accomplished in the process. Sabrina, had it all along back in 2000; where would she be without me?
Besides "Rain man", came here because of Honorable Linda Reid, to help my son James Cucek and all the older children of British Columbia; yes Sabrina is to be applauded for the auton case but if it weren't for me being in the media and newspapers for 18 years and giving 18 years of my life to wanting to help James and other older children get the treatment where would Sabrina be right now? Easy how we forget and not even a thank you from what all I have done, not even from Sabrina! I think we should be thankful for what we have and appreciate other people that have sacrificed a long time to get the treatment for older children.Linda Cucek James Mom
October 17, 2002 at 12:31 am #4726Melodie PilloudMemberDear Anonymous, I am sorry if I offended anyone here. I did say "and to the other parents who have helped in the fight for our children." I do know that without Sabrina we would not be where we are today… I just wanted to thank EVERYONE involved with getting our children what they truely need. Again I am sorry to have hurt anyones feeling with my post! It was meant to be a nice post not a hurtful one. Melodie (Ty's Mom)
October 17, 2002 at 12:28 am #4725Mike & JeanParticipantSubject: Important F.E.A.T. Meeting
Hi Everyone,
Our regular monthly F.E.A.T. meetings have resumed. Our next meeting is this Monday, October 21st at 7:30 – 9:00pm at St Francis in the Wood Anglican church in West Vancouver (map available to download from the FEAT web-site).
Our topic this month is the Auton Appeal Decision. Birgitta von Krosigk who is one of the lawyers from the Auton case will be our guest speaker. She will be giving an overview of the decision.
This is a very important decision so I would encourage you to come out. This meeting is for parents only.
See you there!

October 16, 2002 at 11:39 pm #4723Melodie PilloudMemberHello All, I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to Linda Cucek and the other parents who have made it possible for the children over the age of 6 years old to get the funding for ABA therapy. Without you the children over 6 would still be left out in the dark. You all should be so proud of your selves… You are our ANGELS!!! And we should all be sending thanks to these people who have worked so hard, putting all their time and energy into helping our children. Best wishes to all, Melodie (Ty's Mom)
