It would be wonderful if everyone could take a moment and help children with autism in Northern Ireland by signing this petition.
These children need access to ABA as well. Big surprise but government is not cooperating.
Right now they have 250 signatures. It would be great if we could help them reach 1000 signatures.

Free parking on Hastings or the side or back streets)Topic: Asperger Syndrome: Transition to College and Work (video presentation and facilitated discussion)
Have you thought of your childs possible college or future job, what he/she can do to prepare for work, and when should they start? If your child is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome or similar conditions (e.g. High Functioning Autism) and needs insight to prepare for work, this presentation is for you.
This video provides practical steps for students to take during high school to prepare for college and the work place, and includes interviews with Dr Peter Gerhardt, Professor at Rutgers University; Ann Binder, Director of Special Needs Services at a college, and Mary Beth Berry, Special Ed Teacher and Transition Coordinator at a high school.
It shows techniques to help students understand their role in the transition process, obtain special education services at the college level, learn to be self advocates, and focus on finding a career field which uses their interests and talents. The conclusion includes steps students should take during each of their high school years.
Coffee/tea and refreshments will be provided.
Please RSVP to shui@autismbc.ca before Thursday Nov 28. You'll need to register to attend this workshop.

I thought I would just post this as it is such a great resource for parents:
http://www.asdfunding.com has a section "ABA Team" which has a lot of great information about setting up and maintaining an ABA team.
Also this Thursday November 28 at 7:30pm the ABA Support Network (http://www.abasupportnetwork.com) is having a parent support meeting in South Surrey where you can meet and network with parents that are experienced in setting up and running home based ABA. rsvp to abarocks@gmail.com if you are interested.

November 26, 2013 at 4:29 pm #6478Ed FobesMemberplease email me here: degi03@gmail.com
I have a 3 year old daughter who was diagnosed with ASD spectrum and I would like to hire a Board Certified Behaviour Consultant to create a home based Behavioural Plan of Intervention. If any RASP BCs are accepting new clients and are interested, please email me to set up a (hopefully homebased) interview.
My main goals for my daughter are mostly centred on her verbal and social expression. I feel like she is relatively high functioning: toilet trained, capable of asking for things and talking about what others are doing but verbal and social is where I and her case workers see the greatest challenge compared to other kids. I would also like the opportunity for my wife to participate in any training of behaviour interventionists.
I also would like to possibly fit her interventions around her current pre-school schedule which is Mon- Friday mornings.
I live in the Kingsway-Boundary area.
Feel free to email me any questions.
If you are available, I would prefer to have a telephone or email correspondence before an interview including the following questions. Some seem to apply only to agencies but the gist of the question would also apply to independent BCs:
What is the hourly rate for BIs and BCs?
If we are going away on vacation of 3 weeks with notice given (of course only with my daughter's interests not compromised) will we be asked to pay for what BI's services would have been to any extent during that time? (Before diagnosis we had a 3 week trip planned in March).
Is there a 30 day notice mutual "escape clause" in the contract?
Will you give all relevant data to us if our relationship ends?
Are BI's available in the weekday afternoons or weekends?
What is expense for the initial planning (BPI)?
How many hours will the BC spend/month on team meetings? Can they take place in my home?
Who were your BCBA supervisors? Did they also have BCBA qualification?
DO you have any references of families you worked with recently or currently?
Does your agency take care of the Admin for BI's? Are BI's employees of your agency?

November 2, 2013 at 4:48 pm #6484Cathy FitzhughParticipant*NEED AN ACCOUNTANT TO HELP SUBMIT A FEW YEARS OF TAXES IN OR NEAR VANCOUVER*
Hello FEATers!
Me again, and… I still haven't done my taxes.
(GULP.)They audited me three years ago and it's been enough to stop me from pushing through it all. My question is, does anyone have a trustworthy, patient, and helpful tax person (near Vancouver) who can help me submit everything I need to for the past three years? I also need help in order figure out what kind of money the government owes me as I'm hoping that the disability tax benefits I've not gotten can be repaid to me.
The whole task stops me in my tracks and scares me to bits.
Messages can be sent to: cathy.fitzhugh@gmail.com
Thanks very much in advance{Cathy}
