What does Mr. P and William Jefferson Clinton have in common ?
They both play the Alto Sax
Can't believe it, He's playing along with the CD that comes with
the music book, and it sounds like a song.Dave
Mr. P's DadP.S. In the summer, I guess it would be July, he couldn't even
make a sound out of the sax, and what sound it did make, well,
let's say, there were a lot of amourous moose around our houseKeep up the hard work everyone…

January 11, 2005 at 6:00 am #4305Deleted UserMemberHi Jean,
Is registration available yet for the Gerenser/Newman workshop scheduled for March? According to your previous post information would be available the first week of January. Many of us are looking forward to the presentation and would like to register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Thanks,
DeeDeeJanuary 11, 2005 at 12:30 am #4306Deleted UserMemberRegistration was booming last week and the intermediate workshop is quickly filling up. If you plan to attend please fax in your registration immediatly to avoid disappointment. Please remember that space is very limited for this workhop because of the focus on hands on learning.
Date: January 15
Time: 9:00 – 5:00
Place: Douglas College.
Prerequisite: a minimum of 3 months experience and attendence at either a FEAT BC basic workshop of that of a Qualified Lovaas Consultant. (This is to ensure that the audience is at a similar level so that time is not spent reviewing basic information). Parents are always welcome regardless of expeience level.
Registration forms can be downloaded at:
https://www.featbc.org/downloads/ibtw.pdfIn order to register you must list your experience level as well as where you have taken your basic workshop.
Please note that the intermediate workshop fills quickly. Space is extremely limited to allow us to provide a high amount of hands on practice with individualized feedback from the workshop instructors.
thanks, see you there!
January 10, 2005 at 9:03 pm #4307Mike & JeanParticipantThe next F.E.A.T. of B.C. parent discussion meeting is on Monday, January 17, 2005.
Topic: "How to protect your child's treatment
funding."Despite the soothing words from the elected politicians, MCFD bureaucrats and their newly appointed "emisaries of communication", that "nothing will change, our committment remains the same…." experience has taught many of us otherwise. Treatment funding, particularly individualized funding, could well be in jeopardy.
Come out and join the discussion. Get informed, learn about the history of this struggle and how your child's treatment funding actually came about. Get the unabridged, unedited and real truth about how it happened and most importantly what parents/advocates need to do to make sure it continues.
Once again, it's on Monday, January 17th at 7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at St. Francis-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, West Vancouver. Download a map off this website.
This meeting is for ABA parents only.
Please email me at jean.lewis@telus.net to reserve a seat.
See you on the 17th.
JeanJanuary 10, 2005 at 6:09 pm #4308Diane TMemberThe Mid-Island ASBC Community Group meeting planned for Wednesday, January 12 has been postponed.
We all travel a fair way to get together (and our speaker is coming from the Lower Mainland), and the forecast calls for more snow on Wednesday.
We will reschedule for February.
Thanks.

Topic: Almost Dried Up: Is Full Recovery From Autism Really Possible?
Presenter: Jenny Obando, motherJenny was the first of three speakers at the December presentation given at the North Shore ASBC meeting.
Tamara Leger, North Shore ASBC Group facilitator, described Jenny's presentation this way:
A powerful, positive and enlightening evening about beating the odds and coming out "looking indistinguishable" on the other end.Jenny Obando will tell her story of her sons hard-won recovery, using visual examples, on how their family tackled the tough reality that is Autism. She will share with us what went into her successful mix including her sons starting points, challenges and her familys personal sacrifices in overcoming her first childs diagnosis and what life looks like at the other end. She also has a second child recently diagnosed who is in the beginning stages of an ABA program.
This will be an open meeting. All are welcome: parents, grandparents, friends, teachers, therapists, judges, politicians and service providers.

January 6, 2005 at 10:41 pm #4311David ChanMemberSo,
We had a self declared snow day at our house. Both kids are
nagging me to go outside to play in the snow. Me I'm not a real
cold weather kinda guy, but whatareya gonna do.We get outside, I figure, better clear the driveway so the cars can
back out later today or tomorrow.I start shoveling the drive, when low and behold the boy asks me
"can I shovel the snow ?'you're kidding right? "hey, knock yourself out"
his technique needed a little refining but he got most of it done.
Well, "recovered", I don't know yet ?
for now, I got a kid to shovel my driveway,
And that, can't be a bad thing
