I was wondering if anyone could help our family out. We have a 4 1/2 year old girl who could do with much much more peer play-dates.

I was wondering if anyone who lived locally to us, (we live in Fleetwood, Surrey), would be interested in a 'swap' for peer play-dates.

We have a 6 1/2 (girl) and 8 1/2 (boy) who could be used for peer dates with your child, and we would love to have your approx 5 year old child to come over to provide our 4 1/2 year old daughter with a much needed peer play-date.

I hope that all makes sense, and if you are interested, please email me at:

    North Shore ASBC Lecture Series

The North Shore ASBC Support Group proudly presents:

Systematic implementation of the principles of Applied
Behavior Analysis as solutions to staffing issues
(or Using ABA to train your ABA team)
    by
    Nathan Searle and Theresa Tournemille
    at
    7:00pm, May 19
in the North Building of the
Delbrook Recreation Centre in North Vancouver

We are very excited to have two of the best local consultants as our guest speakers. A synopsis of the presentation is as follows:

Running an effective ABA program requires ongoing management of staff. Because of the hierarchy characteristic of ABA programs, the application of any home program is dependent both on its design (by the behavior analyst) and the accuracy by which it is implemented (through the instructors). An equally difficult task is managing staff in a way that effectively facilitates the accuracy of implementation required to produce optimal gains for the student. Management requires behavior change in staff and in those who are the administration of the program. The main thrust of the presentation is that the same principles that we use to effect change in students can and should be applied to staff members.

In simpler terms: Effective ABA treatment requires accurate adjustment of therapist behaviours according to the child’s needs. The most effective way to train therapists to exhibit the desired behaviours is to use ABA. The same principals used to help children should be applied to help those working with children.

    Hi Norm,
My Mom and I have frequently commented on what a joy it is to take care of my son when he's sick, as his autism seems to be alleviated at those times. Whenever he has a fever, he doesn't stim at all, and his receptive/expressive language both have noticeable improvements. Thank you very much for posting the article links. Very interesting.

Studies Showing Fever Improves Autism Symptoms
    ————————————————

This is amazing! I am wodering what other parents have observed regarding fever.
We always joked about how "nice" our son becomes when he is sick. I have also been amazed that he can catch up with a whole month's worth of homework in 1 hour when he has mild fever, but when he is healthy just one night's homework takes 2 hours!!
