We are looking for an ABA therapist in the White Rock/South Surrey area to work with our 4 year old son. He is highly functional, bright, warm and personable.

As part of a team of experienced BIs, you will teach and model age-appropriate play, communication and social skills. You will also incorporate specific goals and track progress during play and table-work. Each session lasts 2 or 3 hours possibly more and you will be asked to work a minimum of 2 sessions per week. Team meetings are monthly. Salary is dependent on experience. Training will be provided under the guidance of our Board Certified Behaviour Consultant. Ideal for college students especially those in psychology, social work, special needs or education.

Applicants must:

– Be patient, self-motivated, extremely reliable, enthusiastic and possess excellent communication skills.

– be at least 19 years old

– have experience or enjoy working with children

– have a clear criminal record check

– have reliable transportation

– be available to attend monthly team meetings

– Be willing to make a minimum 12 month commitment

Topic: Special Presentation – based on feedback from many parents, we are going to talk about the challenges of running quality treatment programs with limited funding from the government. What do families do that don't have money over and above the $22,000 or $6,000 per year?

What Can My AFU Funds Do?

At this presentation, you will hear from a panel of BCBAs, and their experience with what you can expect from both over-6 and under-6 funding from the Ministry. Topics to be discussed include:
1. Quality vs. Quantity — sample ABA programs of different funding models.
2. Home vs. school — how to ensure that your child is receiving the best support and supervision with the funds you have available to you.
3. Collaboration — other resources which can be used to help pay for collaboration with other professionals, such as SLP and OT.
4. Goal setting — what to consider when setting goals with your consultant.
5. The ethical perspective of your BCBA — ethical considerations for your BCBA providing consultation on a limited budget.
6. Tips and troubleshooting — ideas to help use the funding creatively and maintaining a great team.
We will also end with a Q & A, and invite parents to share their feedback.

Behavior Interventionist- Unique Position (White Rock)

The time has come again: We need a new line therapist for our team in central Vancouver. Our eleven-year-old daughter is high functioning, verbal, affectionate, and very entertaining. Her therapy is fascinating, and her progress is consistent. She has been doing ABA therapy for nine years.

We work under the guidance of Kim Kirsch and the Early Autism Project, a home-based ABA program. Training will be provided by our current lead, who is amazing. (You are in luck.)

You need to be fun, responsible, dedicated, and creative. You should have strong play skills, a positive attitude, and lots of energy and patience. You are a good multi-tasker, are organized, encouraging, enthusiastic, and responsible. Previous experience with ABA programs is a plus, but as long as you seem bright, caring, and capable, we are interested. A criminal record check will be obligatory.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: picking our daughter up from school, recording data, facilitating playdates, helping with home living skills, and helping her with fine and gross motor challenges.

You would have three sessions a week that run from 3:00 to 5:50, and would need to attend a team meeting, held once a month, from 5:00 to 6:30.
