We are looking for team members to work with a young man with a developmental disability at his home, located in Surrey. The position involves helping him learn new skills including communication, self-regulation, community involvement etc. using an approach that is evidence-based, data driven, and behavior analytic; the program is being overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This young man lives at home with his family, and has some challenging behavior which is something we will be focusing on reducing while also increasing functional skills. His comprehensive program will be run during daytime hours. Teaching will include some discrete trial, learning during natural routines, functional life skills, leisure, community outings, physical exercise etc.
This is an excellent opportunity for those individuals who are looking for experience in teaching and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, or looking for experience in the field of Behavior Analysis. The young man that we are working with is an engaging individual with a variety of interests; shifts would involve a number of fun activities in addition to structured teaching components.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities would be an asset, though is not required as intensive training will be provided by BCBA consultant. A one-year commitment is preferred, and a competitive wage is offered. For those who are interested please email hksaba@yahoo.ca
