STUDENT AIDE POSITION!
There is a Student Aide position available in the kindergarten classroom at Magnussen School located on UBC campus. The hours would be roughly 8:30-3:00 from Monday to Friday.
This is an opportunity to work in a very unique classroom! Magnussen places an emphasis on teaching brain tools, and teaching children how to learn and behave in a classroom while developing attachment with the students in a nurturing environment. The student to teacher ratio never exceeds 10:1 and this particular class only ever has a maximum of 7 students.
The student requiring an aide is 6 years old and mainly needs support with improving emotional regulation and impulse control. Much of his day is structured using the Social Thinking curriculum.
We are looking for someone firm and consistent who is warm and nurturing. This position would be well suited to those interested in psychology, special education, speech language pathology and teaching.

They allow a learner to organize, plan out, sustain attention and assist with task completion both in their social and academic worlds. The focus of this presentation is to offer attendees a greater understanding for the different components of executive function and how children on the autism spectrum may be impacted by deficits in one or more areas, both in the elementary and high school settings. Further more, strategies for how to improve in these areas will be discussed in a general format both for implementation in the home and school settings.Speaker: Michele Shilvock, Behaviour Consultant, BCBA
