We are looking for a resposible, dedicated, and creative person to join our (most excellent,) well established, home based- Lovaas-style Applied Behavior Analysis program (an intensive behavioral program where the children are systematically taught what other children learn intuitively from their family and peers.)
Our four year old daughter is low on the spectrum, and is very verbal, gentle, affectionate, and amazing. Her therapy is fascinating, and her progress is swift. We are currently working under the guidance of the EAP (the Early Autism Project.)
Previous experience with autistic children would be an asset but is not required. Initial training will be provided by our senior therapist along with follow up sessions.
These positions will appeal to people with an interest in psychology, education, special education, speech/language pathology or any other career involving children and clinical therapy. This is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact on a child's life while acquiring great training and job experience.
All applicants must have strong play skills, a positive attitude, lots of energy and patience, be good multi-taskers, and should be encouraging, enthusiastic, and responsible. You also need to be able to take constructive feedback and implement it immediately.
Energy and a positive attitude is a must.As a therapist, you need to be able to commit to
two or three shifts a week (the shifts are two or three hours long,) plus attend biweekly team meetings on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30, periodic workshops, and also be able to commit to the team for one year.Weekend and evening shifts are also available, so you should easily be able to work around your university schedule.

Hiring New Tutors For Your ABA Home Program-
Many families hire tutors who are students at local colleges and universities. These people often have flexible schedules and are interested in learning. An important characteristic of an effective tutor!
The following are links to employment centers at Lower Mainland universities and colleges. Some of the employment centers charge a small fee, others are free.
You will need to train more tutors than needed as there is a high level of attrition during new tutor training. If you receive more interest than you need please pass those names on to Families for Early Autism Treatment of B.C. (FEAT BC) https://www.featbc.org
