September 13, 2007 at 6:28 pm #9925Dorothy RayMemberHi everyone. It's September and our therapists' schedules have changed again creating an opening for a new team member.
We are seeking a line therapist for our 6 year old son's ABA/AVB autism therapy. He is in Grade 1 with full-time support and has been in a home therapy program for 3 years. He's very verbal, energetic and enthusiastic. He is also a quick learner and is rocketing through his programs so if you like variety, this is a great opportunity!
We are seeking someone 19 years or older, preferably a college or university student who has had some experience in working with children. Any ABA experience is also valuable, but not strictly necessary as we can train the right person. You must be enthusiastic, fun, and able to play with little boys (i.e.: be goofy, physically active, and know how to blow a good raspberry on your forearm).
Our Behaviour Consultants are Dominika Szymanska and Ramen Saggu of ABA Academy, and we are located in the Guildford of Surrey, close to the highway and a main bus route. We need a person who can fill two 2-hour shifts per week, on any combination of Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays, as well as attend a team meeting once or twice a month (to be scheduled as we go along).
Our family is easy to work with and our son is a fun guy. Come and join our happy team! You can reach us at roganddot@shaw.ca .
Thanks!

Aldyn is a happy, energetic five-year-old boy who has just started attending kindergarten. Last September, he was diagnosed with ASD. He was considered to be on the high functioning end of the spectrum, but he had some delays in language and motor skills. Aldyn's mom and dad put together a program with a behavior consultant and some therapists to help him improve in those areas. Since that time, he has made and continues to make incredible improvements, but he still needs support in some areas.
Aldyn's mom and dad are currently looking for people who:
1) know how to play (and enjoy playing) with children.
2) have previous experience or are ready to learn how to work with special kids like Aldyn.Schedule would be two or three shifts of two or three hours per week, to be discussed. Knowledge of errorless teaching is an asset.
We are located in North Delta by the Alex Fraser Bridge. A 10min bus ride from the Scott Road Station.
If you think this could be an interesting opportunity, please contact us to discuss it further @ 604-957-9272 or email: jc@callamedia.com
Thank you J.C. Young

September 12, 2007 at 4:51 am #9930Kam SangheraMemberHi everyone, hope you are all doing well. My name is Kam, and I work in an elementary school. I am very passionate about my job, and have spent the last three years working with a little boy who has autism. This year, our school has five new autistic children entering kindergarten, and for that reason, I am pushing to have a sensory classroom, or a resource room designed in the school. However, my first road block has already been met. LACK OF FUNDING!!! So….I was just wondering..if there is anybody out there who has children who have grown out of their toys, tactile items, sensory objects etc…and wouldn't mind donating them, I would be extremely, extremely greatful, and this way you could clean out your closets or garages, and know that the toys or items would be going to a great cause! Also, I am trying to make this very empty classroom more cozy and child friendly so if anyone has a spare couch, bean bag chairs or childrens furniture that might be taking up space…please let me know!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!!!
Sincerely
