Hi all,
I'm posting on behalf of a friend in the Victoria area:
Her son is now 8, she always knew something was up but no doctor had ever given them any direction or diagnosis…but many excuses.
Now…they have seen a neurologist and that doc said to get psychoeducational testing done (to get the formal diagnosis)and told the mom to "do some research".
I can't believe this stuff is still happening…

Anyway,
all of you Vancouver Island people, especially those in the Victoria area and school districts:
1. Who should she get psychoeducational testing from in the area
2. Are there any paeds yet who order/acknowledge ABA on the island that she would benefit from seeing, and
3. Can you please email me with your contact info if you can support her directly with any advice, experience and support for local-specific issues (treatment, consultants, school districts, psychologists, advice on bladder issues, social issues, etc., etc., etc.) She is new at all this and is overwhelmed…as we all were (and still are!)so any local contacts would be appreciated.

Family in South Surrey looking for new Therapist to join our Team

Our small, well established team has an opening for someone new! We have an opening to work with 1 and eventually, 2 boys with autism and with potential for a future lead position or to become a Support Worker in school.

We are lucky to be under the fantastic consultation of Dr. Sara White and Colby Anderson. We have a multidisciplinary team, so we also work in cooperation with our brilliant occupational therapist, Mary-Ann Fulks.

The boys have dynamic programs which include 1:1 ABA, occupational therapy, outings, and play dates. We are immediatly hireing for my older son's team. He is 8 years old, moderate on the spectrum, happy, giggly and loving. He has been in an ABA program for over 3 years.

We have a strong and creative team, so we are happy to train someone new, or to welcome someone with previous ABA experience.

SO, if you have weekend availability (must commit to at least 1 weekend day), are fun, motivated, active (love to go swimming, play in the snow, ice skating, go to parks etc.), have your own car, are organized and willing to commit to our team for at least a year, I would love to hear from you! We are looking for someone who wants to grow with ABA, who sees working with us as an opportunity to gain skills and to further themselves in their career of choice.

We live in South Surrey near 152nd and King George. 15 min from Cloverdale, 20-25 min from Langley, 20 min from Delta, just a drop down from anywhere in Surrey and minutes from White Rock.

Behavior interventionist needed to work with our 4-year-old boy who is very social, fun, happy and bright.

We need 1 or 2 people who have lots of energy, excellent play skills, love working with children, motivated, patient with positive attitude. Some experience working with young children is essential, and full paid training will be provided. Our consultant is William Kent from MAPCL.

We are looking for someone to take two shifts a week, make at least 6 months commitment and able to attend paid team meetings once to twice a month. We are seeking someone who can do 2-3 shifts, and shifts are 2-3 hours in length . We are located in Cloverdale.

ABA therapist needed in Port Coquitlam.

Our 4 year old boy who was diagnosed with Autism has been in ABA therapy for over a year now and is making great progress. We would like to expand our team so are looking for fun individuals who enjoy children.

Sessions are approximately 4 hours long and are located in our home. Formal training is provided by our senior ABA consultant and shadowing is performed to ensure you are comfortable.

Our son is very social and can express himself verbally. He attends preschool and is learning more vocabulary and social interaction.

No experience is necessary. Ideal for individuals considering a career in this area.
