North Vacouver team is looking for 1 more therapist to work in a well established Lovaas style ABA program for a sweet 15-year old autistic boy. ABA experience is an asset, but we will train. WANTED: MATH AND CHEMISTRY TUTOR FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WITH ASPERGER'S SYNDROME
We are looking for a mature, self-motivated individual to help a Grade 11 student with his math and chemistry school work. He is a bright and funny young man who likes video games, manga and sports, and is easy to work with.
The student takes regular classes like his peers, but needs extra support in understanding and applying the materials since he learns differently. He memorizes information quickly, but needs extra support in understanding the material in order to apply it. He needs concepts broken down into smaller steps and segments for him, and support in practicing them. He also needs his tutor to help support him in the learning and practicing effective study habits and organizational skills other support team members put in place.
We have two amazing consultants who work with him: Shelley Davis, M.A., J.D. from the United States and Alaknanda Majumdar, M.A., B.Ed., M. Ed. who is our local consultant.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, able to think on their feet, and willing to stick with a minimum 1 year commitment. You should be comfortable teaching high school level math and science (especially chemistry) and be prepared to teach study skills, social skills and life skills as well. Prior experience working with students with autism is an asset but not required. Paid training will be provided.
The tutor should be available to commit to 2 regular sessions per week, 2-3 hours each session. Paid Team meetings are held on the first Monday evening of each month, and meetings with Shelley Davis are held every 3 months on a Saturday afternoon. Her name is Sarah, and she has been a peer to a young adult with Autism, and is extremely passionate about working with children.
Currently she is a crim student looking to eventually work with children and teens in corrections.
Right now she volunteers with Big Brothers of Langley and works part time as an instructor in an after school program for elementary students.
She is available in the afternoons on Monday and Wednesday and all day on Fridays.

Our family is eagerly looking for therapists (tutors), both senior and junior, to join our home based ABA program that we have running for our very charming and playful, high functioning 4 year old son.
Previous experience working with children with Autism would be fantastic, but is not essential. Individuals interested in psychology, education, speech pathology or any other career involving children are welcome.
We are guided on this journey by our Consultant, the very capable and passionate, Kathryn Theroux from the Able Clinic.
This is a great opportunity to receive training and hands on experience in ABA therapy with minimal initial qualifications. What you should have is lots of energy and patience, strong play skills, a positive attitude and good multi-tasking abilities. Enthusiam, dedication, reliability, an open mind and a willingness to learn are most desirable.
As a therapist you need to be able to commit to: two or three, 3 hour shifts each week, in addition to attending bi-weekly team meetings.
Salary is negotiable and is based on experience; only apply if you are a natural at relating to children. We will ask that you make a one-year commitment to the team and as a matter of course, we will require a criminal record check.

We need a therapist who has lots of energy, excellent play skills, loves working with children, motivated, patient with a positive attitude. Some experience working with young children is essential, and full paid training will be provided. Our consultant is William Kent from MAPCL.
We are looking for someone to take two shifts a week, make at least 6 months commitment and able to attend paid team meetings once to twice a month. We are seeking someone who can do 2-3 shifts, and shifts are 2-3 hours in length . We are located in Cloverdale.
