Looking for a Play-Date Therapist
We are looking for an experienced therapist to facilitate peer play dates in the fall. Hours are weekdays during school hours (3-5 days per week, 3-4 hour shifts). Shifts would consist of a peer play date and a bit of one-on-one to work on social programs. This position could also (but doesn't have to) be a senior therapist position.
We are located in Langley and our consultants are Dr. Sara White and Michelle Karren.
Please email abateam@gmail.com if you are interested.

[I am posting this on behalf of a UBC psychology grad who would like to get into ABA. After talking to her on the phone we decided our neighbourhood was too far for her to get to. I can't vouch for her as she is brand new and untrained, but she sounds very keen. Her posting is below.]
I recently graduated with a BA in Psychology from UBC and I am now looking for work with a family as an ABA therapist for a child with autism. Although I do not actually have
experience as a therapist, I know a fair bit about it and am interested in learning more. I grew up around children because my mother runs a family daycare and I have also worked with children/youth for three years in Summer camps,
sports camps, and as an exchange program coordinator. I would like to train with a team preferably in the Vancouver West side/Kitsilano area but would also be willing to travel a little farther if needed. My e-mail address is nat_eddies@dccnet.com and my phone number is 604-290-1760.
Thanks,

June 1, 2009 at 9:02 pm #10656Leah MumfordParticipantFABA Presents: Our Fourth Annual Charity Event!
FABA (facing autism by awareness) is a group of teachers, SEAs, lead therapists and program supervisors who are dedicated to educating children with autism as well as providing support for families. Every year, we hold a charity event with the goal of supporting local educational and grant programs. This year, we will be donating to Harmony House preschool, the ABLE clinic and Friend 2 Friend.
Harmony House preschool is the first of its kind in BC: it develops child-specific ABA programs for each of its students, and is run by local behavior consultants. The ABLE clinic can use our support to help children receive a diagnosis sooner, which means valuable time to start a home-based ABA program months earlier than with the current system of waiting lists and funding approvals. Friend 2 Friend will use our donation to set up integrated play groups in schools across BC.
To support these worth causes, we are holding our second annual Casino Night! This event will again be held at the Hilton Vancouver at Metrotown, and will feature fantastic food, music, silent auction, and of course, Casino games! Poker, blackjack, craps and rouletteyour ticket gives you thousands in funny money to be used for the games. It will be held June 13, 2009, and promises to be an amazing night. Last year, we raised $13,000.00, and we hope to beat that total this year!
Please consider purchasing a ticket ($50.00) and coming out to help support these deserving causes. If you cant make the event, but would like to still help, the purchase of a ticket will enter you into a draw, so please consider supporting us long distance! For more information or to purchase tickets, please e-mail us at: thefabagroup@gmail.com
Thank you very much!
