We are looking to hire a part-time aide to work three days per week with our daughter in grade 4 at Hope Lutheran School. ABA experience required. Pay dependent on experience.
Our daughter has finished her home ABA program and is exceeding academic expectations in most areas. She still needs some help socially and may require assistance with more abstract language arts concepts. Your main role will be to facilitate peer interaction during outside portions of recess and lunch, and assist the teacher during class time. Behaviour plans will be provided by our consultant, Dr Sara White.

Under the supervision of a qualified ABA Consultant the candidate will be required to facilitate peer and sibling social outings to development friendships/relationships while supporting growth in communication as well as language development.
The candidate will be required to .
1) Join the home based ABA program to
A) Learn the childs level of abilities in all areas and to be better prepared for outings by understanding his communication and his likes for the best outcome through motivation. Although this position is mostly social based the candidate will be required to learn the home ABA program and continue with 1 session of 1:1 ABA per week.B) Become proficient at data taking with respect to our home based program
C) Attend monthly team meetings in order to learn what is going on as well as share collected data and information with the home team
2) Provide a detailed schedule of social outings one week ahead of time. They can be home based or in the community depending on time of year and cost. The schedule needs to outline how many children will be needed, where the outing will take place, how long the outing will be, the cost (if outside the house or if materials are needed).
-the Consultant will provide social/emotional/communication based goals/objectives for the candidate to work off of.3) Take data on targeted skills while on the outing and model appropriate behaviors while keeping the child and his friends motivated and happy.
4) The outing determined will be done with siblings and then the same outing with peers to allow for the best outcome. This will require 2 2 hour shifts per week as well as one shift per week continuing on the home team so that newly learned abilities are generalized.
The candidate will be .
1) Responsible for safety of children including vehicle safety (must have business car insurance or similar), road safety and stranger safety with a strong understanding of behaviors to be proactive in these areas.
2) Fun, outgoing, able to participate in activities with children and make all of the children have a great time as well as having Joe supported in a way to have all of his abilities noticed by the other children. Must be able to make the child shine in the company of others as well as making them feel like the best sibling or friend they can be.
3) Able to take data and report information in the form of a social update that includes graphing of objectives.
4) Creative and independent and able to set up dates for the children that are fun and facilitate opportunities for good interaction and communication.

Just posting to see if there are any families in Burnaby needing an EA 3 for this coming school year.
A bit of info:
I am currenly employed by Burnaby as an EA 3 (meaning over 1000 hours under a certified consultant) but am not assigned to a particular student.
I worked as an EA in Burnaby for the 2007-2008 school year and have taken this past school year off to do some travelling.If there are any Burnaby families whose child is not yet assigned to an EA 3 please don't hesitate to e-mail me at katya.ballos@gmail.com.
