September 27, 2009 at 6:17 am #10660Nancy WaltonParticipantThe ABA Support Network website is now ready for membership registration! And membership is FREE.
Everyone please check out our website at http://www.abasupportnetwork.com. Click on "membership" at the top of the page and then click the "click here to Join" button. On the membership page, there is also a new parent package to read or download.
We are strictly a parent run and entirely volunteer organization. With the cuts to the EIBI program, we are going to be very busy helping new parents start up quality ABA programs. We are also there give the existing ABA community a voice.
We will be holding monthly meetings at the Surrey Sport and Leisure center, but through our website and membership surveys we will tackle issues province wide.
We would greatly appreciate donations to help offset our start up costs. Donations can be made online.

September 18, 2009 at 2:28 am #10663Courtney MapsonMemberRespite/Community Outings Therapist
Looking for fun, energetic, and outgoing individuals to help fill in some holes on our team.
Duties can include: going to the gym, swimming, running, skiing, bowling, golfing and other community outings. May also include some video game playing, and a little bit of rocking out on guitar on Rockband! Who can resist a 'job' that includes a description of duties like this?
Student is a grade 12 male with autism, working under Dr. Sara White and Courtney Phillips.
With all of the fun activities, a clear and concrete grasp of this student's behavioral intervention plan is required and extreme consistency must be demonstrated in all environments, so you must also possess this skill on top of some fantastic gaming skills
Shifts may include week-nights, weekend days or weekend nights and will likely be fairly flexible, which would be perfect for a University student or someone not wanting to add another 'team', but instead just a few more shifts a month.
Please email Courtney at cpaigemapson@hotmail.com if you're interested.
Thanks!

JennSeptember 15, 2009 at 4:13 pm #10665HCurkovicParticipantHello, my name is Holly. I have just finished my maternity leave and am now looking for work. I have a BA in Child and Youth Care and as mentioned above I have 7 years of experience in ABA.I have worked across all ages, all facets of the spectrum, with numerous consultants. I am extremely knowledgeable, able to read a child well and have a talent for reinforcement.
Not only do I have experience in therapy within the home, I have also gone to preschool with children, been involved in IEP meetings, trained SEAs, ran play dates, and used community outings to teach a child. In addition, I worked for two years in a residential ABA treatment home.
I have led every home team that I have ever been on but am not necessarily looking for work as a lead therapist.
I would love to be a part of your team. Please feel free to email me at hcalver@hotmail.com

I knew I'd forget something… we also have:
1. Graco toy doll baby swing (can easily take seat off to use as dolly car seat).
2. Graco doll's pack-and-play crib.
In case it's not completely clear, these are items for a toy doll, not a real baby. Again, if you'd like these they can be picked up from us in North Vancouver – e-mail me at andreafinch@shaw.ca – and stay tuned for the rest of the items I've probably forgotten.

Hi there – we have the following to give away if you are prepared to come and pick them up from us in North Vancouver:
1. Small red kids table and chair. Table is 2' by 2' square – suits pre-schooler. Chair is quite small – similar size to Ikea kids' ones. Both made of wood. We used them as therapy table when we first started our programme – they're great as they don't take too much space.
2. Toy castle – Fisher Price. Will throw in some Playmobil knights (assuming I can find them).
3. Power Rangers set – about 6 Power Rangers plus a tower and some accessories. Was great for early pretend play.
4. Playmobil streetcar
5. Playmobil train station
6. Playmobil helicopter
* NB the Playmobil is essentially all there but there may be some bits missing.
Please contact me within the next week to pick up these items – after that they will be consigned or given to charity.
If interested, please e-mail me privately at andreafinch@shaw.ca – we are in North Vancouver not far from the second narrows bridge, in Lower Lonsdale.
