I am looking for a tutor/behavioural interventionist to work with a student with the diagnosis of apraxia. This is a communication disorder in which a person has trouble saying correctly and consistently what he or she wants to say.

This student is 2 years and 9 months old. His home-base ABA program will be run during daytime and after school hours. The days and times of each session can be very flexible.

The program focuses on teaching speaker behaviour and on play skills.

Please contact Sharon Baxter at sharonbaxteraba@yahoo.ca if you are interested in working with this student.

    Parents and Consultants,
I am not sure if I am posting this in the right area.
After emailing the site Admin. and getting the o.k to post this. I thought it would be benificial for you to safeguard yourselves, especially if you are starting up a new team.

The present Family, I am working for in the Tri-cities is a new to the world of ABA. This family has just recently been taken advantage of by an individual who has managed to bill the family for hours they have not worked.
The individual lives in Surrey and Originates from Ontario, their ABA is flawless and their ablity to gain control of the families funding is also flawless.
They target New families who are just learning about the world of ABA and starting a brand new team. As the Lead Therapist they would persaude the families that they do the billing for the families, to help ease the burden. This individual has double billed and also sent in a 3rd billing for therapy sessions and work they did not do. The family I am working for has gone to the RCMP, but is having difficulty getting support from them because the Family is the employer and must take this individual to small claims court.

The family recieved a phone call warning her to check her billings with the Ministry.
The parent then took the steps ( which she did not do initially) to contact the Reference that this individual worked for prior, she found out the reference letter she recieved was a forged reference letter. The prior Family had let this individual go for the same reasons, 3 months prior to being hired by the present Family. Also, that this is one of 3 known incidents with this particular individual. The ministry of Families and Children have also been contacted but there seems to be very little families can do.

My concern here is that families, protect themselves, make those phone calls to references, verify legitamacy of training or education, do their criminal record checks and do their own billings to the ministry themselves.
It makes me so sad that the Family I work for, took good faith that this person was who they said they were and they took money from a Child.

Hopefully this will help protect you from any unnecessary grief and heartache.

    Sincerely,
    Dawn

Hello, I am working on a new team for a Preschooler and am wondering if anyone has any materials they would like to part with or sell at a reasonable price.
I am mainly interested in the items that are part of the first learning kit and language builder cards.
