We had our second meeting on Wednesday (February 23, 2011) at Waves Coffee house and even though it was a smaller group, because not everyone was able to make it, it was a really good meeting. Lots of ideas came from it. We also had the opportunity to chat and support each other with the current issues that we have with our little ones and I personally got a lot of helpful information.
Please save the date (Thursday March 10) for our next meeting. Location TBA soon. Time 6:30pm.
As promise, please find attached the documentation related to the Hewko case. This case is a very important precedent for one of the initiatives that the group has decided to take on. That is, implementing ABA in the classrooms for schools in District #42, following the successful implementation done by the Surrey School district.
Hope to see you all there.
PS- Please also feel free to invite more parents to our meetings, so we continue building a strong ABA community here in Maple Ridge.

March 9, 2011 at 4:10 am #7648Lis LouwrierParticipant2 Line therapists needed in Victoria BC.
A well established ABA team in Victoria BC requires 2 line therapists to work with our soon to be 11 year old son starting May 2011. This is a rare opportunity as many of our therapists stay with our family for 3-4 years.
2 shifts a week are required as well as team meetings once a month with our consultant, Kathryn Theroux. A minimum of one year committment is required. Individuals interested in sports (floor hockey, ice hockey, swimming and roller blading), art and humour (most important with a pre-teen) should apply directly to louwrier@shaw.ca. Experience is preferred but qualified candidates with degree in psychology, education and sport-related fields are encouraged to apply.
Many thanks
Lis Louwrier
louwrier@shaw.caMarch 4, 2011 at 10:33 pm #7649Jean TsangMemberHello,
I am posting this on behalf of my son's lead therapist, Selina Lim, who is finishing her graduate project. Hope you can help.
I am a communication design student at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and also a senior ABA therapist for 5 years. I am currently working on my thesis project and I am developing a kit to assist classroom teachers in bridging students with High Functioning Autism and Asperger's (HFA) with their typically developing peers in the classroom. I am looking for 3-4 kids, around age 9-12, to model for a photoshoot to be included in a booklet for the teacher. The photoshoot may happen during spring break or weekend. It will be great if we can have siblings of children with HFA or Asperger's to participate. If you are interested, please email me and I can provide you with more details. My email address is sllim@ecuad.ca.
