My name is Heather and I'm looking for work on a home team for the summer months (possibly doing outings). I live in North Vancouver and currently work for the North Van school board working mainly with children with autism. I have been on many different ABA home teams in the past before I started work in the school district 5 years ago. Please let me know if you need some extra help over the summer.May 19, 2011 at 5:07 am #7679Liana MaioneParticipantI am posting on behalf of a family:
***** Therapists Wanted *****
We are looking for therapists to work with our two-year-old daughter, in Surrey. She loves to play, is very bright and is a joy to work with. This position is of special interest to students interested in special education and/or psychology and is an exciting opportunity to join an ABA team right from the start!
No experience is necessary (although experience is valued and pay will be commensurate with experience), as training will be provided by our Consultant, Liana Maione, BCBA and our Lead therapist. You must be playful, have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, a high level of energy, good attention to detail and a desire to make a difference in the life of a child. You will work one-to-one with this little girl in two to three hour shifts and should be able to work at least 3 shifts per week, in addition to attending bi-weekly team meetings. Early afternoon sessions are currently available. You will be required to make a minimum of a one-year commitment.
For more information, or to apply for this position, please reply to johalsandy@ymail.com with a description of your experience and resume. Thank you, we look forward to hearing from you!
May 17, 2011 at 9:13 pm #7680Dione CostanzoParticipantHi everyone
Last month Kathryn Theroux presented "ASD : The Birds and the Bees" for the ABA Support Network.
Thank you again Kathryn for that informative and engaging presentation!
During the presentation we:
* Shared basic information about the sexual needs of individuals with ASD
* Discussed what we can do/are doing to meet those needs
* Discussed ways to replaced fear, uncertainty, and doubt with facts, resources, and recommendationsKathryn has generously forwarded me an electronic version of her powerpoint presentation for this topic. If anyone would like a copy please email me at dionec@shaw.ca
I would also highly recommend all parents attend this presentation if Kathryn presents it again in the future.
Cheers,
