Tutoring Position Available
Must be good with american sign language………Senior and junior positions are available working with a team to provide intensive, one-on-one therapy to a deaf youth with autism. Experience working with autistic children would be helpful but is not required. All training will be provided under the supervision of Sarah Leadley (,BCBA).
Therapy will take place in our home in mapleridge. Therapists should be able to commit to 2-3 shifts per week in addition to one Team Meeting (2hours) per month. Therapist pay will be based on experience.
Program focuses mainly on functional communication and life and leisure skills both in the home and in the community. Must have your own vehicle and be willing to do outings. We are looking for someone who is energetic, dedicated and works well on their own as well as being a good team member.
These positions will appeal particularly to people with an interest in education, special education, speech/language pathology, psychology and clinical therapy. Other families in our area are looking for trained therapists to work with their children. Once you are trained, there will be no shortage of employment opportunities!

Training will be provided by a Board Certified Behavioural Analyst.

He has been responding wonderfully to his ABA therapy, is a fast learner and loves Kindergarten & his home based sessions.
Sessions will be on a Saturday OR Sunday morning, 10am-1pm (3 hours each session)
We live in Dunbar, close to # 25 AND #7 bus routes

We are looking for an energetic SEA to work with our cheerful and friendly son in our well-established ABA team, beginning September 2013 for Kindergarten. Our son is 4 years old now, and will be 5 years old when he begins Kindergarten next fall.
This person will work one-on-one during regular school hours (Monday to Friday) at Vancouver Christian School.This position involves teaching in consistent steps with a closely followed behaviour plan, using the applied behavior discrete trial teaching approach. Simple, yet frequent data collection plus consistent behavior intervention is required when inappropriate behavior is observed.
Our team is led by Dr. Sara White, as well as a Junior Consultant. This is an excellent opportunity to train under the guidance of two highly qualified leaders in the community. Training will start immediately in our home, and regular weekly shifts will be available in our home leading up to September 2013.
Suitable for those in the education/psychology field and other fields related to working with children. No experience necessary, although highly preferred. The team provides training and ongoing support.
Hourly wage during training will depend on background and experience. Salary increases commiserate with contribution and performance.
Hourly wage for the SEA position beginning in September 2013 will be competitive and include benefits, based on 35 hours per week and 10 months in school.

We are looking for an individual who knows how to have fun with kids, take instruction while teaching and can easily multi task. An ability to play and be creative is a must and experience working as a therapist for a minimum of one year is required.
We are looking for someone for Wednesdays from 2 to 4 pm. You will also be needed to attend bi-weekly team meetings at our home. There are usually opportunities for extra sessions every month, if you are interested.

He is a fun, social guy who is verbal, loves people and learns fast! Our program has been in place for over 4 years and we have seen tremendous success! Our program is under the supervision of our Board Certified Behaviour Consultant, Michele Shilvock and Harmony House. If you love and have a genuine interest in working with kids, have great play skills, are responsible and dependable and can commit to 5-10 hours per week, then please join our team.
You will work one-on-one with our son both in-home and in the community to support his social language development, peer interactions and perspective taking skills.

Amanda Raichelle, also known as Gadget Girl, is our Special Guest Speaker. Amanda has a background in Early Childhood Education, Applied Behavior Analysis intervention for children with autism and support work in schools.
Amanda will be presenting information on getting started with an Ipad for those considering getting one and those that have taken the plunge!
This workshop will focus on areas of interest to the participants as well as opportunities to try out apps.
Topics include:
– purchasing and protecting
– goals and uses of the iPad apps as well as limitations
– restricting your child's use and locking apps
– simple ways parents can use the iPad to help their child.
– iEmpowerU's favorite apps
– managing the iPadIf possible please being your iPad updated with the current version of iOS 6 (back up! then go to settings –> general –> software update).
