    Help please:

My son needs to have 4 cavities filled and two teeth pulled and he will have to go under general anesthetic. Our dentist has us going to a clinic in Abbotsford where we will charched $680 for the aneasthesia. I have heard that this would be covered under medical if it was done in the hospital instead.

Does anyone have a dentist they could recommend who has hospital privilages for having this sort of thing done?

    Thanks for your help,

    Need a little VACATION?

Live in the Comox Valley (or near) or in Penticton area???

We have relatives in the Comox Valley and like to vacation in Penticton, but can't afford hotel costs due to high costs of running an ABA program at home.

We are looking for a family who would like to house swap for weekends or full week vacations. We live in White Rock, 4 blocks from the beach, in a large 5 bedroom house. Sit in the hot tub while the kids play in the fenced in back yard on the trampoline, swing set or play house. Very safe cul-de-sac neighbourhood. Bring your therapist/respite worker, or see if one of ours is available.

We don't need much in the Comox Valley as we would be visiting relatives, but would like a house with a pool, or a pool nearby, if it is in Penticton.

We did a house swap for our family reunion in Colorado (with another autism family) and it was a fantastic experience. Hope to hear from you,

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for the heads up. I think it is extremely important that someone in Vancouver attends this meeting. Maybe several of you.

If anyone decide to go, feel free to e-mail me for soft copies of three studies showing the significant benefits of ABA over "eclectic" or "special education" intensive behavior intervention.

In fact, anyone planning to do any kind of presentation to a group, your MLA, your school board, your child's teacher, should be armed with these.

Hi Michelle, always nice to hear from you.

As a parent who has been through both systems, first the no, no, prompt and then the errorless learning, I have to say I found absolutely no affect on my sons learning. As a parent, I miss having the ability to say the informational "no" when my son is not listening to me, as this tended to get his attention, but I just respond differently now and my son's behavior is none the worse. I have therapists who felt that my son learned to pass through the two "no's" and he would then get the promt, allowing him to think less. So, they feel that errorless learning keeps him on his toes more.

The most important thing, in my view, is that there is consistency. That all thearpist and parents are doing they same thing.

    Nancy
