Andrew, I think you said it well.  That is a theme we can each push at these consultants.  We should all send the same message.

My son, Mr C, and I are going to run in the Scotiabank 5K charity run. We will be raising money for the Autism Support Network, a charitable organization with the purpose of helping parents start up home based ABA programs for their children. The Autism Support Network is building a strong community of parents so that we can all have better access to quality autism treatment.

Please sponsor one of us. All money we raise will go directly to the Autism Support Network.

You can sponsor Mr. C at https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?registrationID=2928573&langPref=en-CA

You can sponsor me at https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/FundraisingPage.aspx?registrationID=2921503&langPref=en-CA

If you would like to run yourself you can sign up at https://2mev.com/#!/events/scotiabank-vancouver-half-marathon

    Thanks for your support

Do you have a BI who needs a good home?

I have a very large bedroom, with a private bathroom and balcony for rent in South Surrey for $600. Opportunities for in-home respite available to offset the rent. Must have a ABA training.

Please forward this information to anyone who might be interested. Much appreciated.

    Hi Carmen,
I strongly recommend you check out asdfunding.com. You will find all BC related tax information for your child's therapy.
If both parents work, you can claim extra expenses under daycare and get the highest tax rate back. If not, you can claim it under medical expenses (tutoring). But read asdfunding.com to get more details and more information on disability credits.

Ottawa or Quebec City therapist needed

We are vacationing in Ottawa and Maine this summer, but leaving from Quebec City to go into Maine. Do we have any members in Ottawa or Quebec City who would know of a therapist who could travel with us and help support our 16 year old son?

Please contact Nancy at nwalton8021 (at) gmail dot com

Katie Allen's presentation on Functional Analysis is extremely good and I highly recommend it to ALL parents of any age ASD children. Take this great, free opportunity to get important information for your ABA program.

Thank you Bev, for reminding us of this day, 9 years ago. I remember it well. It was a blow to our moral. But we licked our wounds and got ready for the next battle. It was a stark reminder of the Goliath that we continue to fight to this day. As if we don't have enough to deal with.

Auton did bring us some Autism Funding. But it's important for all parents to realize how easy it could be to lose it. And it's only together, that we can get what our children deserve. I urge all parents to get involved in the organizations that Bev mentioned. Pay it forward.

    HELP needed!!!

I need someone with ABA experience who can do respite in their home, near South Surrey or Langley. Please pass this on to your therapists. If I can't find someone, I may need to rely on MCFD to find a place for my son.

My son requires 24/7 care, but is delightful, humorous and very athletic.

Please email Nancy at nwalton8021@gmail.com. Thanks for your help.

A friend has asked me to post this:

Looking for a tutor to work with my very high functioning 15 year old son. We are currently running a program under the consultation of Dr Sara White and Rubina Mangat. The program is now run outside in the community, so any potential tutor will have to have a vehicle. The ideal candidate will have experience working with teens on social skills and anxiety with ABA training. We're looking for someone who is able to run 1 or 2 sessions at 1.5 hours each per week and attend all scheduled team meetings. Hourly wage will be based on level of experience and education. We are located in Newton near 146/73 Avenue, Surrey. If you feel you would be the right fit for this position, please send your cover letter and resume to: canuel_s@surreyschools.ca Please note, only qualified candidates will be contacted. We thank you for your interest.
