TinaMemberGreat dentist + anesthesiologist
Hi all parents,
I really want to share my current experience with you with a great dentist and anesthesiologist after my 9 year old son got his dental treatment today. I had struggled a lot with dental issue for my son and had gone on this website many times with questions. I finally took on the suggestion from a family who had experience with this great dentist and found that it was the absolute right decision to move my son from the very well know PDG in Vancouver (as some of you may know) to this dentist who is also a pediatric dentist and could find the big difference. The dental treatment for my son which took me a great deal of waiting time with the previous one then had been scheduled and done within a couple weeks.
Parents, please don't waste your time if you heard from any PDG about a 3 months wait to do the general anesthetic at the Children Hospital and an unknown time of when the surgery will be done until a day in advance. I found this dentist who was able to schedule a time for my son as soon as I had decided to go for it. And most important of all, the dentist and the anesthesiologist did the work with their hearts. They were very kind and patience to us. I don't think you will find better place and more affordable to go. You can contact me if you would like their contact information. TinaMemberDentist…
Hi All,
I always find here the great place to ask for advice and information that helps my child. I very appreciate all of you who read and responded to my post almost right away every time I struggle with question.
I just realized after getting some of the responses today in regard to my previous post, that there are dentist that were willing to do dental treatment for ASD kids without the general anesthetic. If you don't mind I ask you, who know of any dentist that is willing to do dental work without pushing for general anesthetic at the hospital, to share with me either privately or here.
I really hope that my son will not have to go through this proceedure since I know doing GA will not be good for his body. He has some teeth that needed to be filled (no major problem)and he is anxious when getting dental work done. At home, he will let me brush and touch his teeth without problem, just the matter of trust that he had for the people at the dental office.
I hope to hear from you.Any input is very appreciated.I can be reached at tnkaccount@gmail.com
Thanks again and have a safe and happy Halloween.

TinaMemberHi All,
I am wondering if your child have experienced anesthetic for dental treatment and I would like to have your in put in that. My child was scheduled for one but due to illness, it got canceled and another one was then scheduled two days before our trip (on an airplane). I wonder if that would be a fine for that? When speaking to the dentist's receptionist, she found it should not be a problem since they only did teeth filling. If you don't mind sharing your experience, it will be very appreciated.
I can be reached at tnkaccount@gmail.comThank you very much in advance,

TinaMemberfunding option
Hi all,
I've heard of the change of getting autism funding but have not received anything from Victoria. I wonder if it is in effective starting from Oct or the child's next birthday?
I've heard that a lot of the parents received a letter from Victoria but I have received nothing. Any feed back is appreciated.
Thanks,Tina
TinaMemberHELP…
Hello parents,
I really need some advice for dental service for my 9 year old autistic child. Two months ago,I was told by the assistant at my child's dental office that I could go for a dental treatment by another dentist (not his own who charged a lot) and was told to pay $850 for the estimate cost (about $2,700) and now was told that the Healthy Kid program won't cover part of it (since I my wage was higher than low-income ) and my son's appointment for Aug 17 was cannceled. They said now there are two options: go on BC Children's waiting list about 6 months and I will have to pay $700 more for aneasthetic out of my pocket on top of the $850 or go private (with them) and pay $1200+ for faster service (room rental+ aneasthetic). I am so frustrated because of the cost and the waste of time that I've been waiting till now and will have to start waiting for more.
I wonder if you know of / or experienced any good dentist that will do the job faster and cheaper? My son is so freak out when he hears the noise of the machine at dentist office but did fine with the sedation when they did two temporary filling for his teeth. But then the dentist insisted to do aneathestic for permanent filling (not sure if that's because he makes more money from doing that). I wonder if your child had the teeth done by getting sedation?
I am afraid some of his teeth will have to have crowns which will cost a fortune…I checked around and found some places and hope to hear from you if you have any experience with these:
Dr. Pau Wittenberg on West Broadway
Dr. Maria Tugbang

TinaMemberPosting for the family I was helping before.
Hi all,
Thank you very much to some of the therapists (even though there were not many) who were interested in applying for the positions I posted for the family whom I helped before. And thanks so much to the parents who were so supportive to send emails with recommendations/information of the available consultants.
This family has decided to not start the ABA program at this moment and they will be taking a vacation for a couple months before they start the program for their son.
I will post another update when they are back from their vacation and if they decide to run the program in the future.
My appologies for any inconvenience.TinaMemberBehaviour consultant and therapists needed
Hi all,
I am helping a family to set up a team for their almost 4 year-old child who has mild autism. They are looking to hire a behaviour consutltant and therapists with hope to start the team ASAP. If you know of any consultant who is taking new clients and can start right away, would you please email to us so we can contact them.
Or if you are interested in joining the team, please forward your resume to both the email addresses below.
The family lives in Vancouver near Boundary.
Experience therapists are prefered and pay is negotiable. Please email to both:

Hello all,
I very appreciate all of you spending time to respond to my questions regarding dental treatment. I did not have time to respond to each of your email and would like to post my thanks here.
After reading your responses, I called the PDG where my child goes to and told them I would like to have public funded option. They first said it took 9 months of wait. I agreed to wait for it. When it came to actually put his name down for that, another receptionist told me it took 3-4 months.
I am very glad to have your responses and support for my questions. Thank you very very much,Tina
TinaMember**Dental questions**
Hello all,
I have some questions regarding dental and hope that I can get some advice from here.
I took my nine year-old child to the dentist at Oakridge PDG and was told he needed to have two permernant teeth filled ( they tried temporary filling a couple months ago for those teeth). The dentist me that the rent for private room at a private hospital costs $365/hour and it might take up tow two hours to fill two permernant teeth and a few baby teeth that had cavity. I asked him about public hospital and was told it would take up to a year.
I wonder if you have experienced similar thing and if that is true that private is the only way one can go since it seems to take so long to wait for public service?
Have you any suggestions/ advice?
My child is so freak out when it has to do with his teeth so the dentist said the only way was to do it at the hospital and put him to sleep.
I can be contacted by email to tnkaccount@gmail.com or you can post your answers here so others can benefit from them as well. Thank you very much in advance for your help.Tina
