    Attention all therapists and parents!!!

A group of lead/senior therapists are having a fundraising night for the amazing kids that we all work with. We, in partnership with AES (Autism Education Society), are fundraising to raise enough money to fund an ABA chair at a university here in BC. This would be essential to provide training for the many talented leads and therapists that are here in the Lower Mainland, as well as to prevent the "brain drain" into the US, where there are ABA Master's programs available.

This fundraising night will be held Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Aqua nightclub, located at 1066 W. Hastings. Tickets are $10, and are available at thefabagroup@yahoo.com, or, you can call to order at 1.877.338.4175. There will be door prizes as well. Please order the tickets through our group; you must buy a ticket before the event, because the proceeds for cover at the door will just go to the club. So, come out and bring everyone you know to support this worthwhile cause: where else can you drink and dance while raising money for the next generation of consultants?

    Hope to see you there!

The FABA (Friends of ABA) group.

    Please drink responsibly.

    Hi!

    Need a Lead?

I will taking on a new family in January, so I'm looking for a lead position. I've been a therapist for over 7 years now, and a lead for 5.

The only times I have open are mornings, so it would need to be child that's not in school full-time. I can commit to several shifts per week. If you'd like to send me an e-mail, it's: leahvanspronsen@gmail.com

    thanks!

    Hi Debbie:

with all the kids that I've worked with, the SLP's and OT's all say counter-clockwise, even though it seems a bit awkward. They say that when kids start writing letters, (e.g., "c" "o" "d"), the round parts are written counter-clockwise to be formed properly.

    hope that helps,
    Leah

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knew of any ABA consultants in Ontario. A friend of mine knows a child who was recently diagnosed with high-functioning autism; he's just turned 11. But…they live in Ontario, and I have no idea how to get them in touch with an ABA clinic, or how much the government funds over there. Any info would be greatly appreciated. you can e-mail me at LKV@sfu.ca
    Thanks & Merry Christmas!
    Leah
