Posting on behalf of a family in North Surrey.

The family is looking for someone who is interested in pursuing the ABA SW course, or has already obtained ABA SW certification to work with their 16 year old son next year in a north Surrey high school. The student has Asperger's and a great sense of humor, and will be entering grade 11. His program is currently supervised by Leah Mumford and Dr. Sara White.

If interested, please email Leah @ leahmumford@gmail.com. Thank you!

FABA Presents: Our Fourth Annual Charity Event!

FABA (facing autism by awareness) is a group of teachers, SEA’s, lead therapists and program supervisors who are dedicated to educating children with autism as well as providing support for families. Every year, we hold a charity event with the goal of supporting local educational and grant programs. This year, we will be donating to Harmony House preschool, the ABLE clinic and Friend 2 Friend.

Harmony House preschool is the first of its kind in BC: it develops child-specific ABA programs for each of its students, and is run by local behavior consultants. The ABLE clinic can use our support to help children receive a diagnosis sooner, which means valuable time to start a home-based ABA program months earlier than with the current system of waiting lists and funding approvals. Friend 2 Friend will use our donation to set up integrated play groups in schools across BC.

To support these worth causes, we are holding our second annual Casino Night! This event will again be held at the Hilton Vancouver at Metrotown, and will feature fantastic food, music, silent auction, and of course, Casino games! Poker, blackjack, craps and roulette—your ticket gives you thousands in funny money to be used for the games. It will be held June 13, 2009, and promises to be an amazing night. Last year, we raised $13,000.00, and we hope to beat that total this year!

Please consider purchasing a ticket ($50.00) and coming out to help support these deserving causes. If you can’t make the event, but would like to still help, the purchase of a ticket will enter you into a draw, so please consider supporting us long distance! For more information or to purchase tickets, please e-mail us at: thefabagroup@gmail.com

    Thank you very much!

To all of you who came out to the Benefit last weekend!

Thank you so much for purchasing a ticket and coming out to support FABA's Casino Night: Benefit for Autism. It was great to see a huge crowd gathering for one purpose. Your generosity is truly appreciated. Because of you, we were able to surpass our estimated goal and reached a grand total of $12, 500! We couldn't have done this without you–thanks again for your continual support and we hope to see you again next year.

FABA Presents: Our Third Annual Fundraiser! Last Chance to Buy Tickets!

FABA (facing autism by awareness) is a group of teachers, SEA's, lead therapists and program supervisors who are dedicated to educating children with autism. Every year, we hold a benefit with the goal of supporting local educational and grant programs. This year, we will be donating to Harmony House preschool & the ABLE clinic. Harmony House preschool is the first of its kind in BC: it develops child-specific ABA programs for each of its students, and is run by a local behavioral consultant. The ABLE clinic will be re-distributing the money raised through a grant program that will provide resources for families who need a one-time financial 'boost' e.g., to purchase equipment, enroll in a summer camp or help fund their home-based program.

We are holding a Casino Night! This event will be at the Hilton Vancouver at Metrotown, and will feature live entertainment (music and a comedy troupe), fantastic food, silent auction, hourly draws for trips and getaways and a Ti-Vo, and of course, Casino games! Craps, blackjack and roulette—your ticket gives you funny money to be used for the games. It will be held June 7, 2008, and promises to be an amazing night.

Please consider purchasing a ticket ($50.00) and coming out to help support these deserving causes. I'm posting this correction for a family.

Sorry for the error! This contact number is for a family in Coquitlam that I had previously posted for. The phone number should be 931-1985.

We are looking for another tutor for our 7.5 year old son. This is your chance to join an established, experienced team under the guidance of Liana Maione. We are looking for 2-3 sessions, after-school. We live in Coquitlam, and can be reached at 604.931.1985.

    Thanks, Tina and Dave

A Coquitlam family that I work for is looking to hire 2 new therapists. This little boy is 9 years old, really bright, verbal, and hilarious. His programs are mostly focused on academic tutoring and social skills training, so we'd prefer someone with previous ABA experience, but we will train the right person. The family is GREAT to work for, and the hours available are very flexible. Please e-mail the mom, Elizabeth, at elizabethjang@shaw.ca if interested.

    thank you.

I'm posting this for another therapist:

    Need a therapist?

I will be available to take on a new family in May. I have been a therapist for nine months. Currently, I am studying Psychology at UBC, but will not be enrolled in classes from May until September.

My availability will be quite flexible, allowing me to take on several shifts. I live in North Vancouver and take Transit, so I would not be able to commit to travel time exceeding 1.5 hrs. If interested, I can be reached at reynolds.jordan@gmail.com .

    Thank you
