Part Time ABA Support Worker for September in South Surrey

We are looking for someone either currently working in the Surrey School District or who has 1000 hours of home experience and interested in applying to work in the district to make a match with our son.

He is a high functioning, low behavior child who will be going into grade 3. He currently has a 20 hour position and he attends an excellent, ABA friendly school in South Surrey. This is an opportunity to work with an experienced, involved and supportive family, on a team supervised by Leah Mumford and Sara White.

A trial period and familiarization will be required along with the willingness to be involved in his home program from now until September.

    Please email ABAinSouthSurrey@gmail.com

The Autism Society of BC (ASBC) is sponsoring a six-class course about the principles of ABA and their practical application to parenting children with autism. The classes will consist of a variety of presentations, guided discussions, brief exercises, video demonstrations and question and answer times. Rather than a traditional lecture style, the classes are designed with a “round table” approach, where parents can bring questions, ideas and input in order to facilitate discussion.

The classes will take place on February 25th, March 18th, April 8th, May 13th, June 10th and July 15th, 2013. They will be held at AHP Matthew Elementary School at 13367 97A Ave in Surrey. Cost is $120 (preregistration for entire course) or drop in (space dependent) for $25 per class.

Space is limited to 30 people so please register early! Registration and course information can be found on the ASBC website at http://www.autismbc.ca/asbc-applied-behaviour-analysis-parent-support-course/ or phone the ASBC at 604.434.0880.

Parent Support Workshop – Course Outline:

Location: AHP Matthew, Library – 13367-97 Avenue, Surrey, BC V3T 1A4
    Time: 6:30-9:30 pm
    Dates: See course outline below.

    Class Structure:

The classes will consist of a variety of presentations, guided discussions, brief exercises, video demonstrations and question and answer times. Rather than a traditional lecture style, the classes are designed with a “round table” approach, where parents can bring questions, ideas and input in order to facilitate discussion. The presenters will endeavor to provide a broad, conceptual framework for the classes, in order that parents may take the information to their own consultants and teams, in order to structure details, strategies and programs specific to their child.

    About the Instructors:

Theresa has co-developed a premier model for 24-hour teaching homes (based on the principles of ABA) and is currently providing behavior consultation services in collaboration with Dr. Sara White (BCBA-D) and Nate Searle (BCBA).

    Hello,

I'm posting on behalf of a family.

One of the families I work has a daughter who has limited verbal and attention skills, but requires a optometrist appointment. If there are other families who have had experience going to the optometrist without the prerequisite skills of being able to identify letters or sit for extended periods of time, they would very much appreciate your advice.

please send all messages to leahmumford@gmail.com

    thank you,
    Leah

Looking for an SEA in West Van with ABA experience.

A family in West Van is looking for an SEA with ABA experience for next year. The student will be in Grade 2 next year, and is a gifted, social, funny little guy who loves the Canucks. The family runs a home team with the consultation of Sara White and myself, and we provide a high level of support and collaboration with the school.

SEA experience is ideal, but not required, as West Van does not require the SETA qualifications that most other districts do. If interested, please forward resume to: leahmumford@gmail.com.

    Thank you!

Are you interested in joining a great team of experienced therapists, to work with a bright, funny, and truly one-of-a-kind 7 year-old boy? We are hoping to add to our well-established team in South Surrey. The program focuses on building social skills, teaching leisure activities and developing self management abilities. Shifts run approximately 3:30 – 5:45. We will need to fill 2 afternoons a week, with one being a Friday, and the other is to be determined shortly. You would also need be available for monthly team meetings, which occur on the 2nd Friday of the month, from 3:30 to 6. Experienced therapists preferred. Our team is under the supervision of our BCBA Consultant, Liana Maione, and our Program Supervisor, Leah Mumford. If interested, please contact mummyx2@hotmail.com. Thank you!
